Girls, Girls have you actually dated a guy who was poor?

Just want w show of hands if you dated or even stayed with a guy who was broke but liked his personality and maybe looks too?

and as a bonus tell us how it went? Did money issues pop up often in the corse of dating him? Was it a factor that ultimately led you to break up with him if you did?

for the sake of the question we will define poor as: has a job but only earning money below the poverty line.

I've dated a guy or guys who were poor before

I've never dated guys who were poor but i would if i truly liked their personality

I've been in love with a guy for a whole year who works as a sales clerk, who makes below poverty-line wage. Although I'd still want to go out with him even if he didn't even have a job at all, his beauty standards for women are SO high, that he won't go out with me.

If he ever did finally want to go out with me, I'd be worried the whole entire time that the moment he got a higher paying job, he'd leave me for a more beautiful woman. So for that reason, I would want to date a guy when he's actually making the most amount of money that he'll ever make, as then he looks a bit more sincere when choosing me to date.

So having said that, if I was going out with a guy who was making a decent wage, but then who lost his job and became poor, of course I would still stay with him. I would not stop loving him just because he was suddenly poor.

But as having to worry about money would likely cause stress for both of us, as it is a crisis kind of situation that has to be faced, then in order to navigate through the adversity in the calmest way possible, then hopefully we had already discussed early on in the dating stages what our attitudes towards money are. Because I think that what would cause the most strain in the relationship is not about the lack of money, but on our differing attitudes on how to deal with the situation.

yeah but a lot of people around me grew up poor lol so i never thought of it like "oh im dating a broke guy" bc its what im used to like im comfortable around and no it wasn't a factor

BUT here's my thing... are they trying to earn more money or is he just lazy bc he can rely on family or gets by enough? im completely turned off if its not the first one

My boyfriend of 2 years going 3 was not even working when me met and I had more money and I didn’t buy I always bought him breakfast so we could both eat now he’s the one with way more money and he’s the ones that treats me , I still do it but not as often since I’m paying for school and other things but I met him through school:) I wasn’t looking for no rich guy, I was looking for someone to GROWTH with :)

A truly relationship is not base on money. Does money make life easier, in the worldly sense, yes. But, with a truly loving, committed relationship all things can be endured.

Yes all the guys I dated were broke but they usually build themselves up and ended up with decent paying jobs, if they were useless I wouldn't be with them lol.
