Of course attraction matters, but there layers to it that aren’t just about looks. That’s why you see conveniently unattractive men or women with a partner that you’d deem reasonably more attractive, because their connection wasn’t just about the physical but other qualities as well.


You can be attracted to someone’s personality or authenticity. Their humor, intelligence, vulnerability, so many areas. Even with all that aside, we each get older, won’t be young and beautiful forever. What happens when you’re 44 and miserable in your relationship because that model you married 25 years ago has let herself go and doesn’t align with any of your values at all? Life would suck.

It’s not something you see very often, I was mostly using it as a point of reference with how (not specifically) you can see a conventionally unattractive person with someone you’d deem much better looking. They probably connected in more important aspects of life and I think once that attraction is in place, the physical naturally follows if it wasn’t already there.

You may not feel like you’re that great looking, but you don’t have to be a defeatist. Work on your confidence, give yourself a real chance to meet a woman without second guessing your appearance. Women notice that too.
