Have you ever done a no call no show?

I’ve done it twice (kinda) at my job.
I was doing a closing shift with this manager that I really don’t like (She’s sweet as a person and I love her but sometimes as a manager she’s a bitch so I can only stand working with her a few hours)
I was supposed to come in at 4 and it was like 4:01 and I was still home because I just didn’t feel like going in. and I called them and I was like “Can I come in at 5 instead” and she went “if you’re not coming in now, then don’t come in at all” so I didn’t come in lmaoooo. She took me off her closing shifts ever since, thank god

and then the second time was today but it was an ACCIDENT. I was supposed to go in at 11 but I literally slept through 10 alarms and 8 phone calls, I was KNOCKED. I didn’t wake up until 12:30 and called my job but they already covered my shift

The first story was from a year ago and I never did anything like that since so don’t be on my dick about it

Nope. Never have, never would. I am fanatically punctual and take my responsibilities seriously.

Suffice to say, I don't mean to offend, but had I been your boss in that first case, I would have fired you. Period. No discussions, no excuses.

In the second case I would have listened to your excuse. If you were late because under the weather, I MIGHT have overlooked it. If it was because you were all tuckered out I would have fired you and told you to get more sleep before you start your next job.

Also adding to that don't put me down as a reference. You'd get a bad one.

Bottom line, you want someone - and I have hired people over the course of my career - who takes their responsibilities seriously. If you don't, then I will find someone who can.

My advice: Look up to the sky and notice: The universe ain't orbiting around you and your needs, likes and dislikes.

I work at McDonald’s, my job has NO standards. People who should of been fired a long time ago still work there. I know what I did wasn’t great and as horrible as it is, worked there for 2 years and I’m one of their best workers (when I show up lol) so I know no matter what I do, they’re not going to fire me. I’m surprised they haven’t at least cut my hours considering I come in late 4-10 minutes almost every day

Every job is important. It reflects upon you and your actions impact not only you but your co-workers. Whom you undoubtedly inconvenienced. (Oh well, so long as you were not inconvenienced. THAT is the important thing, right?)

Nice of you ti decide that you are their best worker. As to hours, you may have noticed that pandemic thingy. Strange as it may seem to you, it was not likely personal and oh, by the way, despite your presumptions, it is not all about you,

Once, but the schedule had changed and my manager neglected to tell me. Luckily a co-worker called me about a half hour after the shift started and I got there about 15 minutes later. That manager wrote me up, but then she was let go the next week. I didn't even hear about it in my annual review, so I guess it turned out alright.

Yeah, but it was miscommunication. I asked my manager if I can take off for a certain day because of some personal issues I was dealing with involving school. She agreed and said she would find someone to cover me. I assumed she did, but she didn't, and I was still on the schedule. I explained it to my general manager who pulled me to the side to talk to me, but I was still marked down as no call no show.

Yes. That's how I quit one of my jobs. Just didn't go in anymore or call. But it may come back to haunt you.

No, I haven't. I always call if I can't make it on time, or just to say, I'm running late, just not coming in.

The responsible thing is to go in and do your shift, if she sucks to work with, ask for a different shift or find a new job.
