You should not have asked this question...
Because I happen to have a list readily available!- Blatant favoritism!!! I know that's usually the case in every workplace, but at mine it's glaring. But what irks me is how the company and bosses claim, "Everyone is treated equally!" Yeah, bull.
- Racism is also a thing. This is a bit of a taboo topic to discuss on here, or anywhere. But at my job it's been an issue for years and it's not a secret. Which I find ironic because our company has a Diversity department that specializes in discussing racism in the workplace. Yeah, it's just there for show, and we all know it.
- Lack of communication (Do I really have to explain this one? Pretty sure this is an issue at almost EVERY job).
- Nearly every manager is flaky, doesn't know what s/he is doing, has terrible communication and interpersonal skills, or doesn't know what they're doing. Yet they're a manager. Which brings me to my next point-
- Managers don't care about their employees unless it makes them look good. I work with woman named Karen*. Karen just got Employee of the Year. So of course that makes my boss look good... my boss does any and everything to make Karen happy. Whereas I'm unhappy with my job and I've expressed my disdain MANY times. My boss claims she wants to work with me and try to make me happy. Yet the next day, she's back to her old mannerisms or acting as if we never discussed my issues.
- They don't listen to our [the employees] issues or concerns, yet wonder why we're not happy or people leave there.
- They reward the wrong people for doing barely to no work, yet the ones that do work hard and put effort in are barely acknowledged (see my bullet point on blatant favoritism). Which brings me to my next point-
- The ones that DO work hard and show up everyday get minimal to no praise. Yet the moment they do anything wrong or miss something, they're reprimanded. Basically they have higher expectations of them than say, a lazyass that does the bare minimum.
- People love making you their scapegoat- something goes wrong? Oh, let's blame Jane Doe, even though she was only the messenger.
- People are so messy. Be very careful what you tell people- and this goes for any job. Because even though someone claims they're your friend? Yeah... no. Tomorrow your drama will be all over the hospital. I work at a facility with about 1k employees. Ask me how fast drama spreads? LOL. There are NO secrets at my job: none. Word gets out quick, especially if it's gossip. That's why I keep my personal life out of work. I don't tell anyone anything about me outside of work unless I want them to know about it.
I'm sure I'm leaving more out, but that's all I got for now. The fact of the matter is, nowadays I just go to work, do my job, and go home. As it should be.

From the POV of being the manager....
The number one thing was staff claiming I wasn't doing my job or they could do it better. The first thing I would do when there was an opening in our management department was give an application to all the complainers---you can do it better, let's see. Of the three who actually took me up on it, all three quit within a month when they realized how physically exhausting it was to run up and down several flights of stairs all day long and work 10 hour shifts always having to be on call on radio. Then there was the having to please donors, having to deal with customer medical emergencies and customers angry about everything in your face, having behind the scenes meetings where you learn that staff complaint/suggestions which we fought for are vetoed by the higher ups, having to make and re-arrange schedules all day long, having to do all the copies and make sure things in the galleries were working because god forbid a donor sees one machine not working out of 200, and sends an email letting us know they will no longer be giving us donations (happened!), and getting blamed and scape goated for everything by literally every department, customer, and your staff. Not to worry though, whenever I would go on vacation which was basically never, I would get back and I'd have the same staff telling me how things weren't running well when I wasn't there, or so and so was so mean, or the same things they said five minutes ago weren't done right by me, were not going well when I wasn't there....SMH.
I'm retired now, but I worked for local government where it is virtually impossible to fire/dismiss someone for incompetence. Everyone working with these people knew they're useless. Nevertheless, supervisors didn't want to go through the laborious dismissal process and a civil service hearing, so they would pigeonhole them to keep them out of everyone's way. That's fine, except they take up a position which could be filled by someone useful, which would reduce everyone's workload.
I swore that if I was ever in a position of authority this wouldn't happen. When the time finally came, I proved fairly successful.
I have way too many stereotypes at my work, the macho idiot, the too feminist, the I don't know shit, the i know it all, the one that they think they are the boss just because they got more responsbility, the ones that fuck but think no one knows, the joker that thinks he is really funny but sadly is not, the hot girl, the fat one, the quiet one, the bs talker one that lies all the time, the tall one, the creepy one, the foodie, i can't name more at the moment but my mixed group has it all 🤣

I'll just assume that this title is asking what kind of person I am in the workplace.
Since I am still in school and doesn't have a job yet, I'd probably be the quiet employee and only talk when I have a question and only when spoken to. That's because I've been doing that for years and I know that when I get a job at a restaurant or something, I'll have to speak in general. I know I have to greet people. I'm not a bright person, but I'll try my best to smile even when my emotions are just blank. At my old retail job I did a lot of the work. I worked with mostly middle age men. They would get lazy and make me do the work for them while they were capable of doing it themselves but they got the paycheck for it and I didn't.
One coworker sexually harassed me into doing his job for him, saying things like "If you're going to marry me then you have to learn to do stuff for me." Not only that but customers complained about him a lot.
When I quit I found their job ad for my replacement and compared it to the same position at another location. The other location was very basic customer service skills while the one to replace me was filled with all the duties I did for everyone at minimum wage and was double the length. Clearly they wanted to find someone who was like me.EVERYONE, in the office has ear-buds, or mutes their speaker, but this ONE PERSON!!
She apparently has a difficult time, with computers, as hers keep "BLING", "Bling" and "BLING" ALL FCKING DAY!!
I had enough, and went to confront her, REALLY ANNOYED! But she's much older, and like a "nice grandma" kind, so I had to really FOCUS, and BREATHE, and find my "polite" side, asking her to either mute her speaker, or plug in ear buds.
She had been working from home, during COVID, but now, in the office, most days!!! 5 other people annoyed, but NOBODY SAYING SHIT!!
So I do it, and try not to be the bad guy!!When these assholes eat or drink my sh*t in the fridge! I hide it enough to where they shouldn't just think it's a free-for-all. And yet, they still take my sh*t, and don't even ask! (And I only work with six other people.) Rather than confront them about it, I'm just starting to take their sh*t now. I'd like to see them justify the double standards.
From the personal atmosphere at (my) workplace I have nothing to complain.
Ok, there are some guys I don't like too much, but we still get work done.
What irks me most:
are customers who
- know everything better than the specialists
- and who ask for ridiculous discounts (but would rip me off if the purchase situation would be reversed)
My boss knows that and volunteered to handle the worst of those guys on his own :)
In return I get the ones that HE can't stand; ... fair enough.Being expected to work just because they are giving me a paycheck. Hahahahahaha
I used to joke that work got in the way of my personal time.
At my salaried job, I wasn't on the clock. So they gave me more work than I could complete in an 8 hr day. I finally came to peace with that because the benefits were worth it. I also figured out how to game the system.
I'm so happy to be retired now. :-)Bullies who didn't get punished. In the end it was addressed but the one who ended up leaving was the victim.
Then supervisors with different ways of working. One will say you must do it like A, another one will go B
Flirts or creeps at work
And the last one that comes to mind is just the chatty colleague. He's a very sweet guy, funny, but there is work to be done and I need to focus, he usually sits next to me so ehhThose things exist in my workplace too, as well as:
1. People who talk too much.
2. Mean and inconsiderate bosses.
3. Unsafe working conditions: bad odours, hazardous chemicals, defective equipment, even vermin such as rats and cockroaches.
4. Stationery and office tools that don't match legitimate expectations.1) It irks me when painters get paint on my recepticles and switches and don't wipe it off.
2) when sheetrocked bury my device boxes.
3) when spacklers get joint compound all inside my device boxes.
4) when contractors take it upon themselves to move lights I've installed.
5) when plumbers or HVAC guys cut a wire and doesn't say anything.
I can keep going but I think you see what I go through on a daily basisSomeone who is too strict. We're all there doing simillar/ the same things and or reason so wouldn't working hard and joking make things a lot easier. But some people refuse to joke and stick to themselves so much it's hard to communicate at times and mutual respect doesn't go as far as it should
People who cancel as you are arriving
Try to negotiate prices to nothing
Expect you to drop everything you're doing & come running
These are just some things that irk the chit out of me 🤬Pretty much everything. People are slow and stupid and can't seem to understand basic tasks and responsibilities. They are lazy and rather have others do their work for them. Also management seems to be weak and play favorite. Unless you are the head manager even assistant managers in today's world have zero power and are run all over because rules and expectations don't exsist.
When people order things like complicated salads in the morning. The ingredients to make those aren't set up before 11am so I end up having to run around all over the place to make even just one salad. It's like exercising.
Well the biggest problem I have now is I've outgrown where I work. I don't feel comfortable retiring yet. But I make more outside my job now than I do at my job. I've always known that many bosses above me were idiots. But I stayed for the money. Well if I'm not there for the money anymore why am I there. It's just hard for Mr to hide my contempt anymore. Lol
I've been working from home for the last 16 months and I'm not going to lie but the person I share my office space with is a proper D! ck!! I mean technically I live on my own but hey after 16 months I've realised what a D! ck he is! lol
Being micromanaged and having a boss that wants to keep track of me all the time.
Having to wear clothes. It has been so hot and I get sweaty. Need to take the clothes off and cool off!
Sometimes my boss can be a jerk.
Oops! Wait a sec! I AM my OWN boss because I'm self-employed!
I better be careful before I get myself fired by my self. :- )The boss that tells you how to do your job but has no idea on how it is really done.
Stupid ass questions, the I'm better than you, favoritism, you're hourly I'm salaried therefore I'm more valuable
