Happy Teachers' Day to all of our dedicated teachers out there! I've been an educator for almost 4 years now. I would never be the person I am today without the help of my mentors. 👨🏫 I never forget what my University Professor's response when I confronted him about the BLOODY REMARKS he put on my paper, as this was my first time to receive lots of corrections and I was already a graduating student back then. He said, "... because I know that you can do better than that!" This line has impacted my life even up until today that I am now a young professional. My professor has a very high standard in everything which helped us to give our 💯 percent best in everything. 💙
What are some encouraging words/lines that your favorite teacher has ever told you?
Happy Teacher's Day and thank you for being Who You Are and wanting to be a teacher. Maybe even a guide. And In some ways a leader. What I love about teachers is this is a moment in time for them. We have five hundred and 34 elected offices in the United States and not one of them will stand up and dare to be great. A couple years ago I think there was 3.2 million teachers in the United States and many of those teachers stand up to be great I think teaching is more than just teaching. Teaching is a moment in time to mold kids to become better than themselves but you have to know how to read kids to get into their head so they enjoy what they're doing if your kid did something wrong parents discipline them or restrict them. That just stops them from growing that's all give the kids something that they enjoy doing giving them responsibility that's what parents should be doing anyway if I was a teacher one of the first things that I would instill into my kids would be. Cause and effect. because it is an everyday situation but anyway I just wanted to thank you for being Who You Are. This is a moment in time can you have an opportunity to stand up and be great and I hope you achieve it I hope your students achieve it with you
I hope you have that passion to do that because that's what it is it's fashion it's a part of you that you give of yourself with nothing in return and that's what makes it special kind of well you do get something in return and that's to get to watch one of your students succeed greatly and I think that's beautiful and you're right I think all teachers have something so very special inside of them with almost everything that they did they are teachers there's teachers in this world and there's guides in this world party leaders in this world. People hate bosses and supervisors because they know nothing but a good leader people will follow them off of 100 foot cliff because that's how much they believe in that leader and that's what I think teachers are
I've had teachers grill me for slacking off and I'm still grateful for it to this day. Honestly, the best advice is sometimes the advice that comes across as negative but you realize it's constructive criticism that you can use to try and become better. Who knows, maybe one day my teachers can see just how much work I put it but it's not like they know or potentially even care if I did end up working hard in the end. Don't get me wrong, most people love teachers because they're basically like second parents outside of your house but me personally I still haven't visited my old high school teachers and I can make a ton of excuses as to why I haven't but I'm gonna be brutally honest I don't care about their lives. It's always nice to show your teacher how far you've come in life but me personally I'm one of those people where if you know me then you know me and if you don't know me or you knew me in the past then in my opinion I'm probably not going to know you and you probably don't know what I'm like either

I was always that honor roll kid with great grades, loved school, total nerd, but I had a history teacher in middle school who wrote on my test with a 90, see me after class. This note was always reserved for any kid who failed, so I was totally confused. When I talked to him after class, he told me point blank that my test grade was not good enough. I balked, "but it's an A!" He said, "I know, but for you, this is not good enough. Did you study?" I was so frustrated and upset because the three people in front of me literally had failed, and I was being chewed out for getting an A?!? Well you best believe this level of psychology worked so hard on my perfectionist overachieving nerd self, because I not only aced every single exam after that, I did all the extra credits, turned in all my assignments ahead of time, and was top of the class. These words have been one of my life mottos whenever I feel like I'm underachieving. I remind myself, that what I'm doing is not good enough for me, so I adjust and try harder.
I like the idea of this question and wished I had a teacher who gave me sage advice. I was always landed with the horrible teachers that didn’t like their jobs, and interest in actually teaching young minds had dried up long before I came along. Two did like my artwork. They both asked to use two pieces for example in the next year, promising to give them back… and then refused to remember me when I did go in for them. 6th grade and 10th. One of them I probably would still have. Traumatic. The basketball coach was trying to get me to join the team when she saw I was having a shoot-off with one of the girls, we had sink 11 from half-court before I realized she was watching. I was already about to leave that school by then though.
I don't have a line but this reminds me of a few teachers I had in high school. I'm sure they're not teaching anymore but I'm inspired to send them a gift now, if I can locate them after all these years.
Any suggestions on a thoughtful present for two elderly retired ladies? They were so kind and treated every kid with love and respect, and no matter how naughty I was they never made me feel like a nuisance or that they disliked me (still firm though, but never too much). I could keep going on about them but I really respect good teachers who show students the way we should always treat people, even when in a position of power.
The fact that you were planning to give them some presents is already a nice gesture which is worthy to be appreciated by them! Just think of a present that is simple, yet meaningful. Remember that it's not about the worth of the gift that matters, but the VALUE you give on it! 🎁
I remember when I was in Aviation Officer Candidate School. They had us swim across the harbor, at night, in full flight gear (flight suit, G suit, boots, helmet, and equipment harness) to a destroyer that was moored. We were in pairs (swim buddy's) buy it was still a nerve wracking task.
Our instructor was a Navy SEAL who saw our apprehension and said to us 'this is an exercise about being able to control your fear and still perform... fear is healthy, panic is deadly". The way he said it made me realize he felt fear at evolutions like this as well and wasn't afraid to admit it. When I realized this SEAL felt fear and was OK with our feeling fear, it suddenly made me feel more comfortable with myself and the fear I felt.
Gandhi said live simply that others may simply live and Martin Luther King Jr said “I have a dream that one day my children will be judged, not by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character, I have a dream today.” And “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.” And Anne Frank said “I still believe, in spite of everything, that humans are good at heart.”
Someone commit suicide, so my train was late for a test by 5 minutes. I was allowed to do the test in the teacher's office and got 9.4/10. Another teacher then said the test was invalid anyway because I did it in the teacher's office. I then had to redo it and got a 9.7/10.
Nothing more encouraging than a "Suck it, bitch, I'm fucking awesome anyway"
(Same teacher ended up having massive respect for me a few years later when I was about to graduate and told me I could always use him as a reference in the future, just goes to prove that putting in effort can definitely change peoples mind about you)
You received a Teaching Credential at age 19? There must be a story behind how you completed four years of college at such a young age. I didn't complete a BS in civil engineering until age 22. Feel free to expand.
Thanks for that, yet I still have a lot of things to learn. My fellow teachers would say that I am so patient when dealing with academically challenged learners, as well as those with challenging behavior in the classroom. Maybe because I always choose to be a good listener. I tend to correct my unruly students in PRIVATE (heart-to-heart talk). My students would describe me as a VERY STRICT, DISCIPLINARIAN, and KIND, CHEERFUL teacher. Hahahaha!
I always liked strict professors because I knew what to expect. They also prepared me for grad school where professors would rather be rid of you than have you in their class. I am 61 years old, and to this day I have nightmares about one of them!
My teachers have never encouraged me in any way. On the contrary, I have always had only warnings and discourages. In spite of all of them i got titles until phd.
I once had a math teacher named Mr Harrison. He once told me that I had similocka disease. He said people with this disease tend to fail his class and said that lucky for me, there is a cure. All I have to do is remember to bring my book to class and stop leaving in my locker. That way when next he asks, "Where is your math book?" my response would not be, "Similocka!"
I've had a few good teachers RIP my first grade Teacher & the 4th highschool i went and finally finished i had two good teachers at that charter school that got me to graduate
