I got pushed it into more than anything. I’m actually a very good student and have a high IQ. But truth was I wasn’t ready at the time. Didn’t know what I wanted to be at 18.
I went because i thought it was the best way to get into my field... It was not. I, after 6 months, Abandoned it, and acquired 50+ certifications, and the rest is history.
i went to college after i finished an apprenticeship as construction mechanic. found myself in a career dead end so i figured i'll try to increase my social capital and get a better education.
Be careful about choosing an engineering field that can be outsourced to China where engineers work 16 hours a day for 2 bowls of rice. The best places to get stable employment in US for engineers is in State and Federal Government for Civil Engineers. For Electrical engineers specializing in Power, regulated utilities are good options. Be careful about Petroleum Engineering because fluctuations in oil prices can shut down US production and make jobs scarce.
it was either go to college or get a job. i decided to go to college. and i got a career right out of school. i was one of the lucky ones. i know most people aren't.
For most jobs, true. I consider a lot of four year college degrees "trade" training. Computer scient, Engineering, healthcare (nursing, allied health, physician assistant), premed, prelaw. However four year bullshit degrees include "international studies", "Black studies", "Womens studies", History, Elizabethan literature, psychology, biology, sociology, linguistics, foreign languages.

I didn’t, college is in general a waste of time and money.
I went to a institution instead. It’s kinda like a trade school.

I am interested in the field of neuropsychology
Cuz I’m bored at home so I want to get my degree for a job in the future
So people don't call me a bum that's all it is honestly
I live in the UK so we were all forced to go as we have to stay in education until we are 18
Thought it would get me a decent job. In all honesty, I should have taken a nail course or something like that.
I wanted to go to prove to my middle school teachers and principal that God makes all things possible.
To show ny kids that you never stop learning and that you can always go back to school. I went to college at the age of 48 and have a degree now...
Felt like its necessary since a normal high school dipoma on its own really lost value and a university degree gets asked for almost every decent job
I want to clarify. A degree is asked for at nearly every shit job.
@ethanallen yea sadly and then at the job not a single thing you learned at uni is ever applied

Family expected. As they should. No child wants to go to school. But now aren't you glad you did?
Honestly? I'm not entirely sure.
Just read economic stats on college grads vs non…
I went because I love academics. I would love to get paid to be a degree collector.
I went to college to escape the drug culture and violence in my home town.
full ride scholarship, one-way ticket to move out of the house permanently at 18,
