I know guys who don't seem super smart that have very good jobs cause they work hard and had high confidence and did enough networking to know how their skills can be applied to the work world and I know very very very smart guys that do not know much about the job market and end up working fast food assembly lines. I know girls who have very few friends that end up meeting millionaires through them even though their friends are neither popular nor rich. One owned a recreational training business and gave her complimentary sessions and she met guys through those sessions, one she later married - he was richer than a doctor. I'm trying to be vague to protect their reputation in the event somebody reads my post. I don't want her or her friend to feel bad, both are also my friends.
It's much more than just intelligence but yes, application of your skill set is just as important and sometimes more important than your raw potential.
So play to your strengths and be the best you.

If you can't use it, it isn't intelligence. Intelligence is complete. Intellect is half of the equation. In the definition that I subscribe to, at least.
You always have to know when to use it. But importantly knowing not to insult someone's intelligence.
It depends on what you wanna do with your life. Money isn't everything to some. Most Nobel laureates earn less money than guys with bachelor's degrees or who never went to college but run some business.
