I started 10th grade in the fall of ''69, the year of Woodstock, when I was 15.
I had gone to Catholic grammar school through 8th grade and was a good student.
I started playing guitar when I was 11 and was invited to play for "guitar masses" when the church liberalized after the mid-'60s. I liked the liberalization and the peace and love folk music that was happening at the time.
I had to attend an all boys Catholic high school in 9th grade before beginning public high school in 10th grade. That boys school was kind of sadistic.
I had already started to be kind of rebellious out of necessity by then because of the fucked up all boys school and the fact that my dad was unbending in his attitudes about my clothes and hair cut and social trends even though my mom was really cool.
I had also been intrigued by the Beatles, the Doors, Steppenwolf, 60s fashions, hippie stuff, long hair, and psychedelic light shows by the time I entered high school.
Because I had been so sheltered and was also a late bloomer, I was a bit nervous when I first entered public high school. But on my first day, two really nice hippie girls and a guy named Bruce who had a full beard and long hair befriended me for some reason. Through them, I met the hippie clique. I liked those people.
I was already a surfer and knew some other surfers, too, from my grammar school days.
I wanted to try weed and wound up buying some hash from one hippie guy. After that, I started smoking weed whenever anyone offered. I also tried other stuff, including psychedelics.
Through the hippies, I was introduced to music like the Creme, The Who, The Moody Blues and Hendrix and started learning how to play some of that music.
There would be large gatherings at parks that we called "love-ins", although it was just a lot of kids sitting around chatting, smoking weed and listening to local bands. I would always bring my acoustic guitar. Green Peace would often have tables with free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. There were drinking fountains for water.
I went on a couple of marches to support the civil rights movement and I supported the girls who were into woman's lib.
Bruce invited me to my first concert. From then on, I was hooked on rock concerts. The first one was Stevie Wonder opening for Sly and the Family Stone at the Forum in downtown Los Angeles. The second one I ever attended was Black Sabbath opening for Grand Funk Railroad at the Long Beach auditorium. Soon after, I saw Uriah Heep open for Deep Purple. I saw Yes open for somebody great, too. I saw Jethro Tull's Aqualung concert. I wound up seeing every great band on every one of their tours.
I got a car in 10th grade when I turned 16. I also got my first girlfriend.
I started playing lead guitar and doing vocals in three man rock garage bands with bass and drums. We played at a lot of parties and got pretty popular even with kids from other high schools.
I went to lots of concerts and parties, including beach parties. I drove places with my friends, camped out, hiked, and had some amazing adventures.
I played sports with my friends, skateboarded, and played lots of frizbee.
I did skip a few classes to party. But I never got in trouble for it. And I graduated even though I didn't take high school very seriously.
I always had part time jobs, too, so I had money.
All in all, I had the greatest time in high school.
I was the good kid that never got into trouble except one time and that was really because the teacher was a bitch to be quite honest. She was hard on everyone but she wrote me up for writing about my peers' life and there was cursing in it and she got so uptight about it that she wrote me up for it. I didn't get into trouble though with the principal because they knew I was a good kid who just loved to write and write seriously about stuff. I didn't want to write about my peers life without writing how they actually were and how they talked. They cursed so I felt it was only right to write the truth. Which is what I told her.
I wrote a lot in high school, was in the book club and read a lot of books. You could say I was a bookworm and star student who always got good grades except when it came to science. I was horrible at science.
I was also kind of a loner but I did have a few friends in high school and was pretty much amicable with everyone at school.
The good kid, hella nerdy and looked the part too lol. Got good grades and was pretty much known for being smart or nice. I was rlly introverted though so I didn’t have many friends or any close friends after 6th grade. I wasn’t popular just decently well known, wasn’t a social outcast either. I was also an artsy kid and read a lot of novels and manga. Highschool I was still the smart good kid but started getting a circle of close friends, we were all Asians too so I was part of the Asian kids group. Junior year and senior year I got hit hard with depression and burnout and this was during covid so I became a slacker, slept in some online classes or skipped, probably barely graduated.

Still in highschool but I’m a of all except skipper and class clown and “good kid” I talked to people I like and sleep in all my classes that bore me till I’m woken up (I used to stay up till 4am and sleep for 3hrs now I fixed my sleep schedule) don’t really party unless Ik a decent amount of people there and probably still won’t go (I’m an introvert and get annoyed very quickly) never really fought so far unless you became incredibly annoying or physically touched me first. unless you wanna do something that involves chemistry, geometry, or world history I used to vape sometimes in the school bathroom and shit for a little while not cause I was addicted or anything just liked the smell (I don’t do that anymore don’t even have time all my classes are so far apart that it takes about 5 minutes to go from class to class and I’m not trynna be tardy anymore) as for friends I got a little group of everyone nerds, gangbangers, athletes, band kids, almost any sort of clique you can think of I have a friend in it. When it comes to academics I’m not the smartest but I’m not dumb I don’t really try I don’t try at anything really unless it interests me so my grades are above average but nothing crazy (3.7 gpa as of last year) as for girls not really interested most of them boring tbh and don’t have a personality so the ones I “talk” to I stop in a few days of course I still have specific ones I enjoy talking to and my best friend a female we honestly the same person just different genders. As for other school related things I can graduate as a junior if I wanted to (I have extra credit) or I can take two classes both semester senior year and leave before lunch so there’s almost no point in even going. All in all I guess I’m the “good kid” until I'm irritated or something like that.

First, I loved high school and had a great time. In fact, I graduated in 1981 and yet I am still in touch with friends, including several of my teachers, from that time. Suffice to say that I obviously fit in.
That said, I was definitely not an athlete. (That was my brother.) I was also not really the lady's man - I had two gfd's in my high school years, the relationship with one of which lasted till my sophomore year in college. I did go to prom, graduation and a few dances, but of the latter, not many. I also did not attend many sports events.
My biggest activity was the high school newspaper. There I was very active, and in fact I often wrote almost every article in the editorial section. Including one, believe it or not, on inflation. (Which, suffice to say, is not your typical high school paper material.)
Anyhow, I had a great time but did not give much thought to what kind of person and student I was. I had friends and two gfd's and really only one big outside activity with the newspaper - and my grades were very good. (Though I was not number one in my class.)
It was only when I attended a high school reunion a few years back that I learned that everyone saw me as "the really smart kid." It actually took me by surprise - in a pleasant way. Several people, including a few who I had not really known in school, when we met at the re-union said, "Oh yeah, you were the really smart kid."
So since that was not on the list above, I picked "Other." However, long way around, officially, it appears I was my high school's "really smart kid," circa 1981. Loved every minute of it too!
I was something of a loner, honestly. I was a bit of a social reject and hung out with the pothead "junkies" because that's who would have me! lol I was kind of a nerd/geek who just got bullied really bad and so I sorta withdrew into myself. I had a seriously bad reputation in HS and I didn't really know why, so I just learned to shut up and keep my head down.
I found out why my reputation was so bad later on when I would talk with prior classmates. Turns out that a few of the people I thought were friends had decided it would be funny to come up with wildly vile rumors to spread about me for fun (stuff like telling people that I had herpes when I didn't).
Lmao, high school is a time I wish I could revisit. I was the weird kid. Like the one that didn't talk to anyone, and was a loner. I didn't trust anyone in HS, and for good reason (rape threats, actions, etc.), I didn't end up dating anyone until my first year of uni. I also tried to make friends in HS, but everytime I did it always backfired, and I ended up getting hurt.
It wasn't until I graduated and went on to University that I became the talker/class clown. Its funny now whenever I return to highschool reunion events, how everyone is shocked with how different I am.

The quiet geek. I pretty much just... existed in high school.
Yes I was smart, graduated top of my class, and actually enjoyed most of my classes.
But outside of that? Only had a handful of friends, whom were also outcasts... and I honestly didn't fit in with them. I just hung out with them because no one else talked to me.
Very glad I'm out of high school. Can't say I miss it or the people. Only a few teachers that I genuinely enjoyed and pushed me to do better.

Boarding school, the popular kid across groups. Got a long with everyone - would do some things I wasn't allowed to (smoke weed, have a beer on campus - be out in the night) - yet was viewed as the good kid by the staff.
I don't know.. I was the good kid for the first 2 years but I skipped often.. then I dropped out for a year and a half built up self confidence from watching anime lol Then went back started being like the class clown and just having fun.. still skipped often but passed all my classes..
Tbh, the good kid/teacher’s pet who only got in trouble for talking too much or being an overachiever (you ask for 2 page essay, i give you 5 lol)… I was also a class clown but only after getting mu work done. I wasn't a skipper and my mom actually made me get a written note from each of my teachers saying i could skip on senior ditch day 😂

I was a very angry young man, lots of potential that I simply could not see, nor could most of my teachers. Think punk rock kid in the 80s I as also heavily into computers, and technical theater. I had already been programming for nearly 10 years, and had show credits outside of school. But no one back then even really understood what that would mean for a future.
I was one of the good kids and one of the kids that kinda blended in with the crowd because one time after lunch I put on leggings because the jeans I was wearing were bothering me and leggings weren't exactly allowed but I put them on anyway and I walked right past both of the vice principals and they didn't say anything
The skipper
A nobody. I wasn't attractive, I didn't have money, wasn't into sports, didn't get good grades, etc. My favorite part of the days were when I could just go home & be by myself. I held such an affinity for being alone that I would extend my waking hours late into the night just to savor moments of isolation. Which backfired ofc.
I would stay up far too late & got to school absolutely depleted. It wasn't uncommon for me to frequently get 2 hours of sleep. All of these factors & more led me to skip going to school entirely. I just stopped going. So, I don't have formal education past the age of 16. Which only sounds bad on paper tbh. Nobody would be able to tell if they met me.
I do wish that the cards was dealt were better. Especially a more high quality school. Because I would've at least liked to go there. The high school I went to was ghetto, loud, overcrowded, etc. Not a good learning environment at all.
I got expelled from four schools… three of them being alternative schools. Think that shows how I was 😒
The 1 of 5 girls in the entire school who weren't religious. Eventually skipped all the classes to do with religion. Never payed attention in morning prayers. Was also emo obviously.
i skipped PE and Spanish. i didn't want to change clothes and do all that work lmao my Spanish teacher would force everyone to be quiet as hell and stand, so it was boring
The average quiet one that stayed out of trouble. Went to an all girls school, realized at a very young age females can be real B's for no reason at all and most of them never grow out of it.

I was a school prefect, in the school band, on the girls rugby team, got caught by the principal for bringing alcohol to school, won the kindest and most selfless person in my senior year...
I was the quiet kid who was hated by the popular girls and liked by the others. My grades were good. I was the good kid in the eyes of the public, but bad behind the scenes.
I was a loner. I always prided myself by calling myself a lone wolf but in actual fact I was just a loner and used the term "lone wolf" to cope. Lone wolfs choose to be alone, I never chose to be alone. It's just that people didn't like me.
I was a little bit of all of them plus a few more I was still trying to figure out who I was changing myself depending on who I was around I was insecure unconfident afraid and confused but tried to act the opposite of all these things so others wouldn't pick on me
Looking back being young and dumb really sucked but its a nesasary path we all must travel I wish I had the courage than to be who I was or be like I am now regardless of what other thoughts or do to me but than I wouldn't have learned anything
