I hate not knowing the difference between then or than and were or we're. I also hate not knowing where to put any of these ' " ! .
I struggled in school and at the time I didn't receive the help I needed and I ultimately ended up leaving school because I was failing.

Then is describing when something happens, such as "first this happened, then that happened".
Than is describing alternates, so for example "other than that one, I like these"
Were is describing the past tense of are, so for example: "we were doing that yesterday" instead of "we are doing that today"
We're is just short hand for "we are".
There are probably online grammar courses, but if you had trouble before, I don't know if they would be much help now. It is usually easier to absorb information when young.
Forgot to address the symbols:
' is used to combine words (they + are = they're for example).
" is used to quote something that was said, or to mock the validity of something by using it as air quotes. In either case you put it before and after, so for example, tim said "we aren;t sure where he went" or fir the air quotes mocking version, yeah, thats definitely a "dog" (when looking at something thats not a dog).
! is put at the end of a sentence to convey shouting/yelling, either in anger, fear, or from excitement, or to convey any loud noise in general.
