Being from Ubisoft, I was skeptical about getting an immersive story; and I was right. The story itself was ok. It was nothing you wouldn't expect nor was it full of surprises. The main story didn't really make you care about the characters all that much since they don't give real interactions with them.

Being an open world game, it was doomed to have a lot of repetition. RDA gives you 3 enemies to fight: foot soldiers with aim that would make marksmen here cry, AMP suits and helicopters. Your time is spent destroying RDA sites, RDA radar balloons, and searching for Na'vi and rebel camps.

Combat mechanics are decent. You have your machine and shotguns, 3 types of bows, a spear thrower and a grenade tosser. You get your gun ammo by attacking the RDA. All other ammo requires you to collect certain items around you, which is great. However, there's no melee option save for punching... You can run up on solders and just one punch them 10 feet away. You can punch animals. But that's it; there's no spear, no knife, nothing. I feel like that's a huge miss.

The one thing I was mesmerized by were the visuals. The world of Pandora is beautiful. We play on 4k monitors and it makes great use of graphics card. We had to set the brightness settings as low as possible as the default just seems too bright at night. All the fauna and foliage. All the different colors. All the colors at night. Using your Na'vi senses to see and explore. Flying on your Ikran through the trees, over the water and up the mountains.

My personal score is a 6. My boyfriend gives it a 7; he loves running and just beating things senseless. I feel it could easily be an 8 if they add more mobility options while you're on foot, making Ikran combat more intense. But most of all, adding the ability for other Na'vi to join you in battle... THEY NEVER FIGHT ALONGSIDE YOU! You get a few cutscenes where they clear a path, but that's it. You're entirely alone.
