These days I think it's just one where the visual quality is so important that I can't replicate it in my modest home theater. Top Gun: Maverick!
I have a strong bias towards practical effects over visual effects/CG since VFX don't usually look much more spectacular to me on even an IMAX screen as on my mobile phone. Blowing up what looks like an X-Box video game to me in ultra high res and on ultra big screen with huge speakers still doesn't really move me that much more.
But stuff with a heavy dose of real stuff definitely does!
I’ll see anything in the theater except for something that could make me cry. But the ones that are most spectacular are the ones with intensive graphics and sound by design. It’s hard for me to justify the cost nowadays if the theater experience doesn’t offer more than watching at home.
I think any movie that yakes advantage of a bog screen and dound system. Probably like star wars or Marvel movies. Anything big and bright
Movies with a lot landscapes... I watched The Last of the Mohicans in the cinema as a teenager and it was an epic experience...
I've always wanted to see the John Ford classic wester The Searchers on the big screen.
I did see Last of the Mohicans on the big screen!
I see. Then you might be interested in my THIS question...
Have you ever watched a movie, even if it was a boring one, just for the filming locations? ↗

I haven’t been to the cinemas in years, but I plan to see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire tomorrow. With so many Trekkies, pardon me, Trekkers out there, I’m going to take the path less travelled by and establish myself as a Ghostbusters nerd.
By the way I saw Anchorman at the cinemas on my 23rd birthday. I also saw Napoleon Dynamite that year, and unlike most others, I always stay until after the credits roll because, well, ya never know. Of course that was one time it paid off.
Anything. They're all great to see in theaters 🎥
I disagree. I think some movies don't lose much going from the big screen to the small screen: Moneyball or The Social Network or A Marriage Story for example
Best in a movie theater is a movie with lots of action and a fantastic sound track. The surround sound in a theater can't compare to the small screen.
Wide screen epics. On some TV's - like my OLED 4K LG, they look pretty good but the theater is still better.
I've always wanted to see The Searchers on the big screen
Scary movies are fun to watch in theaters. It’s fun to hear others get scared and freaked out and laugh.
I like scary movies at the theater cause I can watch everyone jump when something scary pops up 😆
CGI ones with great soundtracks...
epics, probably
cinema is too loud. at home you control volume
Comedy is best in a theatre. Laughter is a group experience.
Edge of your seat thriller, or Laugh Out Loud comedy. Depends what mood I'm in
I seen the hunt for October in the movie theater it was fucking awesome. I still love that movie.
Oooh. I love scary movies! 🤭🤩🍿
Scary movie with lots of scares
I like suspense thrillers
All of the above.
I only see big action movies now
Went and saw Civil War it was not that good
war moves
would have loved to have seen Apocolypse Now on the big screen!
I’ve found a lot of theaters bringing classics back to the big screen. I don’t think i’ve seen anything as old as “Apocalypse Now”, but early ‘80s stuff. A lot of times it’s an anniversary thing. So know when it was originally released, 1979, and keep your eye on theaters during the 4s & 9s every decade.
