Would you be surprised if someone is not into streaming platforms?

Like having a suscription such as Netflix, Apple TV, Disney +, HBO, +, among many that there are out there right now.

In this technology era I must admit the 90% of this planet watch TV series or movies on streaming and they ditch cable or broadcast in their homes, but there are people who simply does not own any of those streaming services.

Do you think they are old fashioned or ridiculous or it is ok if they dont watch streaming, not everyone is into it.

Im one of those "ridiculous one" at the house and so does my brother and mom. We watch our TV from cable and we are fine by it, we still can watch movies and otehr types of programming by cable. But when I mention to some people I dont have any suscription on those streaming platforms they see me like "im an odd person" or "what the heck Im thinking in not having those suscriptions because everyone now watches streaming, it is the new technology era" , just because im not like the majority of people. So what if Im not into it, Does that makes me weird, odd strange? I never really pay a huge interest anyway in watching streaming, since they were created. Also my mom is elder so she does not udnerstand streaming anyway, she is settle to watch her soaps, news, some movies on cable or documentaries, on animals, history, etc not interested in where those programs come from anyway. My brother in law seems liek he gets totally surpised in my house there are no streaming and even had asked us with a huge surprise: "Why you dont watch streaming, is the best, cable is not longer necessary".

I mean in my house we can't afford to pay many streaming suscriptions anyway, cause each streaming service you have to pay anyway, so have many of them at the same time, we can't

do it plus where I live (not the US) our government (specially the Treasury Department) charges a certain amount of taxes when paying for those streaming services, each time a person pays the suscriptions. I dont know if in other countries also you have to pay taxes if you use a streaming service.

Its completely fine to not have any OTT subscription. I would even recommend it! I have a Netflix subscription right now, and believe me, I access Netflix very few times and that too to watch cartoon. Nothing else.

Amazon Prime 1 year plan is there, but my parents use it, not me.

I have found that reading is far more beneficial than watching content on OTT platforms. I don't have anything at the moment, you can say that. I am really not interested in OTT. In fact, I have not been interested in it for the last 8 months or so.

Audio books or simply books are for me at the moment.

I would be surprised if someone doesn't like the idea of streaming services.

Compared to old school TV they only got positive features.

Like no ads (at least so far) or the option to only watch what you want when you want it.

But i wouldn't be surprised if people told me they don't have an active subscription. As they also cost a lot of money and require some decent online connection, which isn't available everywhere.

Well I never really got interested or hooked to the ideas of sreaming services sicne they started to be popular. For soem reason I always got hooked and used to cable that watching otehr stuff never got my attention and also paying suscription was not my cup of tea.

I only have Netflix and I rarely use that. I prefer physical media.

I can't understand people who can stand all the ads and junk on regular TV, so you better live without it if it's going to make sense. I left TV behind before streaming was a thing. I do have a single subscription today but I would be fine without it.

When I first got a dvd player I was surprised at how many crap movies there are and how few good movies.

So it wasn't a surprise to find most of Netflix is rubbish I don't want to watch. I guess I could try other streaming services but doubt I'd get different results.

No, because there's a lot of old folks that are old fashioned that doesn't care for technology like that and there's many people that doesn't watch TV or movies especially on there mobile phones, tablets, Ipods, Laptops, and Computer plus there's poor & strict foreign countries that doesn't have access like that and they prohibited many lives stream platforms because of there religious belief or laws.

Got to love it when someones writing style gives them away.

Its not odd but eventually the old tech will completely die out and then you are 20 years behind the times unable to figure it out. I try to stay up with tech so I don't end up like my mom and can't figure anything out. She struggles with debit cards, basic computer functions, remotes, basically any new tech since 1990. The saying you can't teach old dogs new tricks has some truth to it.

I'm not into streaming platforms my own self, so I wouldn't be surprised. I'd rather own physical copies of movies and TV shows then to stream them. With streaming, there is always that chance of your favorite movie/TV show being removed where physical it's mine to keep to watch anytime I want to without fear of being removed or edited *cough star wars cough*.

I get the good stuff for free from TubiTV, Internet Archive, Roku, Peacock, Vudu, Crackle, IMDB, and more.

So you dont need any streaming platforms to paay s you get all that for free?

Not everything is available for free, but majority of the stuff is. I am not gonna pay just to watch one show I like when I can watch the other nine shows for free. Some of the free platforms are supported by ads (which can be skipped in some cases), and some have no ads at all.

Good can you link me those free sites with no ads if possible. I know what you mean I identify also why paying for a platfrom just to see program taht you only want where you can see many programs from different platforms all at the same time in just one free link.

I gave you a short list above. Just Google free streaming services. You can bypass ads on Tubi if you use Brave browser instead of the app. Internet Archive is completely free, but it's mostly for movies, not shows.

Not at all. I do the free trial and then cancel almost immediately. The subscription still lasts til the end of the trial period. Anyway most content I've seen that draws interest I already have.

More folks are ditching cable every day, but there are some who watch so little TV that streaming channels are unnecessary for them to have. The younger you are, the more unusual it would be.
