Who is to blame if a prankster literally gets knocked out by a martial artist?

A couple days ago my best friend's boyfriend wanted to stage a robbery prank on her. It backfired so miserably. He had no idea she knows Judo, Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

The prankster was the guy's friend pretending to be a mean robber that surprises and asks for her money. Neither of them were prepared for what would happen next. He got knocked out too fast that her boyfriend had to stop her boyfriend had to yell that it's just a prank. She's super pissed off at both. She claimed to have been so scared for her life that she really thought she was defending herself from harm.

She literally knocked out the prankster. Who is to blame?

Her boyfriend is shocked. He didn't know he was dating a martial artist. He was so startled by her fast, moves and perfect aim. My friend is still pissed at both of them.

If a prank goes to the point where a person is scared for their life and health, then that person cannot be blamed for whatever choices they made to save themselves.

Obviously the prankster is at fault, but how on earth did the fact she knows 3 martial arts not come up in any of their conversations? I feel like someone who has that much fighting experience would probably make it a focal point in their life.

Outside from her knowledge about it, she wants to live an average, normal life, don't deal with exaggerated ''wow, we like women that know how to fight'' praises and be treated like a normal person. So she always kept a low profile and promised to know use it if really necessary, which she thought it was when she did it.

It could also be they have only been dating for 5 months so he didn't know that about her yet.

Of course it's the boyfriend who's to blame. Both of them needs to blame him. She needs to blame him for arranging this stupid prank, and he needs to blame him for sending him to fake mug a highly trained fighter.
