Female friend knows I like her...

My female friend of about 9 years knows that I have serious feelings for her. The problem is that she does not address it at all. The dynamic never changes, and she's very loving and supportive no matter how I act. She also won't tell me that she doesn't have the same feelings for me, or that we're just friends. She's just OK with ignoring it. I met her when she was dating my friend, whom I've grown apart from over the years while she and I have gotten closer. As a consequence of this, among other things, I've never tried to make a move on her, but I am very open with my feelings with her. Can anyone tell me what she's thinking, because sometimes I feel like there are very mixed signals being passed back and forth. I'd go after her in a heartbeat if I knew that it wouldn't destroy our friendship, and cause my friend (her ex) pain all at the same time. Any ideas are welcome, thanks.

You seem like a super sweet guy. You're concerned about what would happen to your friend ship. This is good. Girls like it when a guy make the first move. (yes a tad sexist but true). Sit her down and talk and to help your nerves make it a game (truth or dare) but make sure your alone. You never want to try to get a girl to do something turning point big in a public place, it will freak her out. The game will make it fun for her and will let her answer more openly. Lay down some rules like 1 truth every 3 dares. Something to make her pick truth. And don't ask her of her feelings right away lead it on then ask. This gives her a chance to get comfortable.

Thanks. I guess I should've added that we are really comfortable talking to each other about uncomfortable topics, so I always could just ask her flat out anyway. I just don't want her to feel cornered or anything like that, because I am a really sweet guy. It's just odd that I can say anything about the situation to her, and she hydra nods and keeps the conversation going without really opening up. She knows how my mind works though, so truth or dare might seem suspicious to her... lol

Let her be suspicious it helps girls like the games. Make her laugh A LOT it helps. And even if your already comfotable still be on guard. you want to keep her thinking. Girls know all believe me haha.

Could be that she does not feel the same for you, but she avoids ACtUALLY saying it cause she cares about your friendship too

Good point, but I'm totally cool with being just friends, and wouldn't bail on her or anything. By not saying it though, isn't that crossing into "leading me on" territory? I'm not upset or anything like that, the whole thing is really complicated, and I'm a very curious person. I might be more interested in the underlying psychology of her actions than her actual feelings, which sounds really weird, but it's the way I am.
