Close friend says my d*pression makes her feel better?

My close friend from uni got really drunk the other day and she said she had been into my room “accidentally, while she was looking for me” (which is a lie), read my private stuff and saw my mental health medication. She said she “didn’t mean to do it” but that “now she knows I suffer from mental health issues and it makes her feel better because it means I’m less perfect.” She said I’m “perfect so depression makes me look less perfect.” Like what the f. Isn’t that messed up?

I would cease all communication with her. She lied to you already and went through your things. Most likely she's going to try to cynically manipulate you into thinking she's your best friend and go behide your back and tell rumors and gossip about you for entertainment. Usually when someone finds out you are mentally they will use that against you to get a cheap laugh. She felt like you were perfect which shows some signs of jealous. She's going to pretend to be nice to you so you open up and then she will go beside your back and tell lies about you. That's what I think. I am not mentally ill but i wouldn't trust someone who went through my things.

Thank you! I completely get what you're saying and I think you're right, to be honest. I couldn't believe anyone could stoop that low while pretending to be friends with me, but some people just aren't who they say they are I guess. Thanks for your advice :)

Trust me you will meet many more people like that. You are in your early 20s so you haven't experienced a lot of adults behavior. It's not like when you were a kid where the kids would say "hey wanna play with me" or "wanna be my friend" adults life is very different. I can be broke af with only a dollar in my pocket and people would still be jealous of me because of that and try to back stab me. That's why it's hard to make friends as an adult.

Thank you. You seem very wise. How would you end the friendship with her? or types like this? I just feel that if she's already trying to underhand me, if I confront her about this she might ramp up her efforts to destroy me or something. Should I just block her out of the blue? I feel kinda bad about it because we've been "friends" for 2 years.

Sometimes I talk to those types of people I don't tell them my business or anything. They ask me for my phone number I just tell them " I only have Facebook". "I don't have a phone" etc. Just tell her any of you business if you want to keep talking to her. Be friendly you don't want to look rude. Just keep you distance. Don't tell them where you work where you hang out at nothing because she might go to your job and tell them you have a mental illness or people you hang with your business. Just keep your personal life away from her.

It’s super messed up. I would drop her as a friend. Clearly she has some jealousy towards you and thinks you’re in a competition with each other. And out of all things she thinks your mental illness is what puts her above you? Yikes

Thank you for your answer! I think it's weird/messed up too but she framed it in a way as being "concerned" about my health which is why I was super confused. I think she's just very insecure, I want a friend, not a competitor who I can't trust.

She sounds vindictive and horrible tbh. No actual friend of yours would say that to you, nor would they go through your things and THEN lie to you about it. She sounds sneaky, jealous and trying to sabotage you

well i don't think depression is normal especially not severe enough to need medication. but it's normal to feel better about someone else doing badly

depression is a sign you are doing something wrong in life or missing something

@Guccigabbana18 she didn't WISH ill will, she just felt better that her friend wasn't doing well. it's an emotion all humans feel. though they don't admit it
