At what age should children attend funerals?

I get a lot of calls before visitations and funerals from parents asking what age their children should be to attend funerals. There's no right or wrong answer here, what are your thoughts?

and I guess you're right, there is no right or wrong answer to this... or, not one that will fit every scenario and/or circumstance

I don't think anyone regardless of age should be dragged to a funeral.

I agree, around 8-9 they have a pretty good understanding of it.

That’s a tough one. I mean it depends on the child, I guess.

I went to my grandpa’s funeral when I was three.

then a cousin’s when I was 4.
then a kid from church when I was 6.

6 is when I understood what was going on and is probably the first time I ever really felt grief and loss.

They should just go and when the kid understands then he understands.

if the deceased is a relative it will be a significant last memory for the kid. I don’t think kids should be sheltered from death.
