What Are Your Views On Unsolicited Advice?

How do you feel if someone randomly starts chatting you up and giving random advice to stuff going on in your life, even if they don't know what you've been through or going through, and even if you didn't ask for any advice to begin with? Does it annoy you? What's your response to unsolicited advice?

Not limiting this to just strangers either. This can encompass your friends and family members too. And yes, I know they only try to mean well, but why try to butt into the life of someone even if they didn't ask for it in the first place? The whole interaction itself seems forced and unnecessary to me, personally speaking.

Anyways, I guess you could call this a rant of some sorts. Let me know your thoughts.

My opinion is that people like to talk. When someone want to give unsolicited advice, I realize they are just making conversation by saying whatever pops into their head and certainly I don't have to take their advice. However, if they are pushy about it or if it is excessive to the point of being annoying I don't continue talking to them.

It's the absolute worst!

That's a huge pet peeve of mine. I typically don't want advice unless I am specifically asking for it. It comes across as arrogant and it's annoying.

Especially if the advice is something you already know or have the answers to.

I think unsolicited advice is OK in some circumstances. If it is something serious and could be of bad consequences and the person who is giving the advice actually knows what they are talking about.

But other than that, it can be annoying. Especially when they don't know what they are talking about or they don't know the whole picture regarding the other person. People tend to like to throw around unsolicited advice regarding dating.
