I’m an upperclassman in college (for ctxt). Earlier in college my best friend (f) and I met another pair of best friends (both m) and we formed a really tight knit group. We’d study together, eat together.. just about everything. Except my best friend.. because she has a boyfriend and would just be with him a lot of the time.
I noticed early on that my guy friends don’t really ever reach out to me first. I’m always asking them to hang out. They’d only ever call my best friend to hang out. I immediately felt like the tag along friend… like they want to hang out with her but I just happened to always be there. These “left out” feelings kinda stopped when I caught feelings for and entered a secret friends with benefits relationship with one of the guys. This lasted about 60% of the time that I’ve known them, but has since ended.
Once it ended I suggested ending our friendship for us to move on.. but he wanted to remain friends. But since then everything has gotten worse. I understand why he (friends with benefits) doesn’t reach out. But I don’t understand why his best friend doesn’t. They’ll both do everything in their power not to contact me. If I seemed sad and they were concerned, they’d ask my best friend if I was okay instead of asking me directly. I’d make group plans and they’d ask her for the details instead of me (the one with the details). They’re currently taking a class that I already took and got a B in.. and they’d rather ask my friend who got a D for help.. even though I offered many times to help them. They’ll leave me on delivered for a week at a time but text all our other mutual friends everyday. Even my best friend noticed that they don’t really ever call or text me.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve decided to stop communicating with them and I have since not heard from them.. except when they cal my friend and I also happen to be in the room. Im over the friendship.. but I just want to know why they’re acting like that towards me.
