She was smoking and accidentally left a cigarette in her then 22-23 month old baby's room. The room engulfed in flames and her baby was left with horrific burns covering 90% of her body, disfigured for life. The mother couldn't deal with the guilt. It was indeed 100% her fault. After only a couples of seeing her daughter in the hospital, she abandoned both her child and husband. The baby's father took care of her all those years.

What do you of a mother that can't deal with such guilt (her baby nearly getting killed, seriously injured and disfigured) and runs away? Is there ever an excuse to abandon your child?

The woman is already in her early-mid 20's by now. I believe she already got married. Yeah she has spoken to her mother several times by now. The mother couldn't deal with the guilt of the stupid mistake she did that destroyed her daughter's life.

If the mother or father no longer being part of the picture is what’s best for the child’s wellbeing, then yes.
Not everyone who becomes a parent is capable of actually being a parent.
People who become parents and can’t handle it very often end up killing their child either intentionally or by being incompetent.
Sometimes, a parent will mess up badly one time and will no longer trust themself with their baby and will give the baby up to someone they believe will do a better job of keeping the baby safe.
I think that’s what happened in this situation.
yeah I can imagine she likely felt as the worst mother on earth for making that one mistake she forever feels guilty about
What a horrible story and experience for that poor child, Mom, Dad, as well as Family and Friends. I couldn't leave after that...
Yeah the poor child knows it was an accident and long forgiven her mom for that. However, she was hurt that her mom walked away instead of being there for her.
Then again, I'm putting myself in the woman's shoes. She couldn't deal seeing her daughter (once a beautiful baby) in that state and forever living with the guilt. She must have thought of herself as the worst mother on earth. I can't imagine all the thoughts she felt.
The mother first concern was Self. There’s no need to sugar coat the remarkable selfishness on display there. Hopefully, the child has enough perspective to get past and move on in a productive manner.
She's doing better in life. She must be like 25-26 years old by now. She's married.
The good part is the loving father that was there for her all those years. Great dude indeed.
💪 Hopefully soon Mom gets a dose of 💪 and meets her child
Sure. Doesn't mean it's a good one, but thankfully you don't don't justify it to anyone else.
