Sense I was a kid I’ve always been fascinated by rocks crystal shells and fossils. Would you find it weird of your friend or partner was so big on collecting stuff like that
Is a rock collecting/tumbling hobby weird/unattractive?
When I was a kid, my friend's dad would tumble and polish stones. I was fascinated.
At one time I was getting deals on really nice fossils and still have them.
I took a geology course in college and became friends with the professor. He told me about a rock hound who had died and had a yard full of rocks that people were going through. I went there are picked up some cool stuff - large, raw stones and some gorgeous ones that were already sliced. I always thought it would be cool to get a lapidary saw and make cabochons for jewelry.
I took a jewelry making course and learned how to work with silver and gold, and made a silver ring with an oval jade cabochon that I bought, and a gold pendant with a lapis lazuli cabochon.
