I've recently gotten into a debate with my best friend and her brother about how to check your blind spot when changing lanes after he drove me home (speeding all the way may I add, not that I'm not appreciative for the ride tho, it's just what happened). You check your mirrors and then glance over your shoulder through the back windshield right? Well this boy would only look behind him, lifting his body up to see in the back windshield (not glance LOOK for a few seconds) then change lanes making all his mirrors useless. Admittedly I don't drive, but I know you're not supposed to do that and I've never seen literally anyone ever do that. So I consulted my mother who has been driving for over 10 years and has to nearly everyday for her job and she also said that's not how you're supposed to check your blind spot and explained why it's dangerous to do it that way. Please if you have experience tell me if I'm wrong here.
Just about every vehicle has blind spots especially newer vehicles & it makes me sick that it’s still a flaw in vehicles today. As for me I have an SUV & I couldn’t see vehicles in the blind spot area in the above chart & to correct the problem I added additional mirrors. Rule number one, look twice save a life.

You're suppose to check all your mirrors and have a good glance over your shoulder nearest to the door. But nowadays most vehicles have the blind spot sensors.

Mirrors, and not through the back but look through the side back seat windows.
It should be a quick glance over your shoulder, a second after you check your mirrors
You are correct.
