When they specifically ask you to to call them by it, and have told you that it hurts their feelings when you purposely call them by a different name which they have already asked you to stop calling them many times for over a year?
Personally I feel like that is disrespectful.

I think one thing is, learning names with digital devices cause I’ve offended two people unintentionally by getting their name wrong. One had an uncommon spelling and the other had a foreign name I had no previous engagement with, so I incorrectly fumbled the phonemes a few times.
That I would understand. New names especially can be difficult until you've had a chance to learn and practice them for a while.
It's definitely disrespectful but once I my your mind up what I'm going to call you I can be very stubborn. Another popular variation is when I call you the correct name but horribly mangle the pronunciation.
