Got my ass beat. It honestly creates serious resentment, and when you’re exposed to oain that often, you fear physical violence less. I was a little asshole growing up who fought a lot
No it isn't. If you beat your kids you end up in jail and lose custody. And that is a law I support. Because we shouldn't have kids that get beaten daily by their protectors or parents. They need safety and there is plenty of way to punish a disobedient kid that isn't voilence. Such as removing privilege such as phones and videogames.
There is a difference between corporal punishment and a beating.
A beating is for self-gratification and/or a power trip.
A whooping is for trying to instill discipline and encourage positive behavior.

I don't think hitting will do it. if there is other kind of punishment it could work. I was punished with lifting my hand for a long time. That was hard to do it. I think that kind of physical activity works better. pain makes me want to go worse.
@DizzyDesii oh she did. We were never scared though cause that was empty threats. That's why I don't understand the whole "no spanking just talk" idea. Even as a kid I knew it wasn't going to go anywhere other than that.
@DizzyDesii she actually couldn't because I bought my own stuff. I didn't have a phone then also. If we left something out for too long she would either throw it away or wrap it up for Christmas
It's only effective at turning them into a neurotic or a serial killer. It could go either way. It probably will also curtail the unwanted behaviour, at least while you're watching.
It worked on me, and it was deserved. I think it should be a last resort, when everything else failed. A spank might work. Of course we're not talking about beating.

Violence just encourages more violence later in life.
I think a swat on the butt of a 2 year old that's throwing a tantrum is more effective than trying to reason with them.
That's a shitty parent of they can't control their kid without hitting them. Good way to end up in retirement home with no visitors

Nope, spanking is not a good form of punishment, and I was spanked as a child.
No it is not a good punishment. I was beaten as a kid
My Dad used to spank me when I was bad up until my parents realised it was turning me on. Now I've got a real kink for being spanked. Thanks Dad.
No what the heck. I work in early childhood development. Nope
No never. Anyone who hits there kids is a bad parent simples.
Exactly
No it's illegal for a very good reason, all you get is scared, timid kids. Because of parent abuse.
That’s a bunch of bull.

It's effective, but long term, if hitting is the only way to keep your kids in check. With fear? They might grow to resent you.
Worked on me. My mom would give us 3 warnings before spankings us. Of course we never cared for the warnings because all they were are just words.
Your mom didn't give the death stare nor shrivel her mouth up and “whisper”. Trust me, its scarier and makes you obey 🤣

She must didn't take away objects after snapping? We lost our phones, toys, game consoles, etc. That was enough to make me straighten up
@DizzyDesii she actually couldn't because I bought my own stuff. I didn't have a phone then also. If we left something out for too long she would either throw it away or wrap it up for Christmas

Well said!
yes, in moderation and rarely and oriented to age/size.

At this point in life.. I feel that striking a child or pet is both wrong and ineffective.
If you have to beat your kids to get them to behave you probably should not have had kids XD
It is ineffective and it is often a good way to lose your children.
