Has anyone ever just packed up and left and cut family off and never looked back?

I have nothing to do with my siblings and I'm close to also cutting my dad out of my life as well because I am sick and tired of knowing it was me who put the roof over our heads and that it is me who is paying rent and bills so that he doesn't have to pay anything yet when I tell him I don't want this or that person coming here he doesn't listen. I am also sick and tired of him only hearing one side of the story and immediately jumping in to defend the very people who basically only ever contact him to cause problems or when they want something and who rarely ever make the effort to come and see him.

No I haven't yet. My mom lives with me and my sister lives 10 mins away, we get along well. My dad is another story but I do try because he is my dad but I don't have a close relationship. Cutting off is not the right thing but if you are feeling overwhelmed than moving and having your own space does help a ton. You can have whoever you choose to come in

I wish it wasn't at the point where I need to cut them but there is a lot more that has happened and is still continuing to happen that I haven't mentioned. One example of what is happening right now, I am being accused by a family member of stealing the money I was receiving for dad when Dad used the money to buy himself a new phone and some of the money was also used to pay for 2 of his car services and the rest went towards his funeral fund. I was even falsely accused by the same person of using my uncle's Facebook account to post crap about them and to send them a friend's requests and I'm like if I had posted anything on his fb don't you think anyone who is fb friends with him would have seen it. At the time they had also received the request it was the time when fb had been glitching for millions of people and that glitch was resulting in people receiving random friends request.

Right now I'm on the fence because if I leave it means my dad ends up homeless because he can't afford to pay the rent or any of the bills at the same time I'm over him telling me I can't have a say in who comes here and who doesn't

Yeah you don't want your dad homeless but why can't he work? Or can he move in with someone..

He is 75 with health issues. After the bs my dad has done today, I no longer care if he ends up homeless. Found out my sibling contacted dad and once again, he only hears one side and defends them. Worst of all he has been completely ignoring my baby ( his grandchild) even when she has tried to get his attention. He has still ignored her.

Nobody will take dad in, not even the sister who he keeps defending

oh wow, I'm sorry to hear all your going through. That's a tough choice and I hope you make the right one because if you're asking you do care and don't want to leave him homeless but you're also on your last thread

Well I didn't actually pack up and leave, but I was abused by my older sister and mother. Thanks to my uncle he adopted me. I haven't seen my mother or sister since the day in court when my sister went to prison. I have no desire to contact them they are dead too me.

I am so very sorry to hear of the abuse you went through. In some ways I understand and know how you feel. Your uncle sounds like a good man and I am glad to hear he adopted you.

I also want absolutely nothing to do with these family members and I didn't make any contact with them but when I recently found out I was being falsely accused of stealing money from dad I snapped and made contact and went off at them because dad used the money to buy himself a new phone and he also used some of the money to pay for 2 car services and what was left of the money went towards his funeral fund. Thanks 😊 My uncle is the best! I owe him so much 💗 I'm sorry they accused you of stealing. My sister would accuse me of stealing stuff out of her room know I never stole anything from her, it was just an excuse too beat me. I'm in college now home for the summer I still have nightmares about my sister once in awhile. My uncle says he's so proud of me. I think it's awful what your family is putting you through. You did the right thing by disowning them.

I've disowned them but I can't escape them, because they always find out where the f I am and they always find ways to contact me all because mental health feel it is appropriate to disclose shit about me.

I know what you mean, my sister has been out of prison since April and I'm always afraid she'll find me. When she was sentenced to prison she said she would find me and kill me for telling people what she did to me. Thanks, I am enjoying the summer ☀️ Have a good 4th of July!!
