Is having a brother the main reason for my empathy for both genders?

I have a younger brother myself and if nasty witch wronged him badly or took away his hard working money/assets and left him in ruins, I'll be the one coming after her. I imagine going rounds with her, seriously.

I don't like injustice being done on anyone and tend to call it for what it is, no sugarcoating it. My brother is just 2 years my junior. Even as a kid, I can't think of a time I had any bias whatsoever. Is having a brother, the main reason I'm able to empathize with both genders?

When I was 12, I once saw a young guy (not much older than 18-20 years old) skating and somehow he accidentally tripped. He hit himself in between his legs. That was a hard scene to watch. Me and two other people helped him get back up. I heard someone laughing in the background and I still don't understand what's so funny about that. I mean, would people laugh if I accidentally hit my boobs? Nope.

I get the feeling that people that having siblings of the opposite gender can see the hardships of both genders, understand both genders better than those that either are an only child or only have siblings of the same gender.

It it really does seem to be a fairly toxic relationship between genders now and not so long ago it wasn't.

I don't think it is just having a brother that makes you empathetic, I would think you just are and have a sense of justice so don't buy into a gender war. It is not advantageous to either sex. But we are where we are and have to deal with it.

If divorce is initiated by the wife 80-90% of the time at a median of 8 years of marriage than guys simply shouldn't buy in. That's my decision and I think it is becoming more common

It's awful indeed. It reminds of a cold war to be honest. Now it's like everyone will lose in relationships. While it's understandable why several men are avoiding marriage, it's also understandable why some women are suspicious with the ''moving in with a boyfriend'' thing too. What benefits one gender, doesn't benefit the other gender. Both have a different marketing value.
For us, it tends to be about selecting right during our fertile years. A woman that has only lived together with 2 past ex bfs that never wanted marriage but has a child with those two men that broke up eventually (basically another single mother) is already at disadvantaged in the dating pool. Meanwhile the market value for men is base on how he is as a provider. If the woman takes away his assets and things, she ruined his dating pool. She did the equivalent of a man wasting a woman's fertile years and never committing. Both are ruining each other like that.

There needs to be changes done so that commitment one day benefits both genders once again.

Your empathy for your brother is a great thing. Too many women don't realize or simply don't care about the plight of men. You will watch your brother go through many difficult times through your lives.

Thank you. I've heard things have been getting worse between the genders over the years. It's a disappointment. I think greed, doing things just to get incentives and power are the greatest enemies ever. It contaminates someone's mind, someone's soul.
I always thought basic empathy is what people should have from the start. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know someone agonizing in pain isn't funny.

You sound like an awesome sister. My older sister kicked me in the nuts many times and my mother just laughed. Not only is it humiliating getting kicked in the nuts, but it's worse when girls laugh at it. Not to mention that it's one of the worst pain for us guys.

Bullying is already terrible but even worse if it's coming from a direct family member that's suppose to have your best interest and protect you. You have a horrible sister (and your mom is just as bad for laughing at your pain instead punishing her for it) that makes the rest of us look bad.

They both are horrible people you're right. I haven't seen them since I was 13 years old and I don't care where they are. My uncle adopted me when I was 13. The best thing that happened to me.

In my experience the only women who have empathy for males are mothers of boys, and sometimes sisters of boys. They are the only ones who are exposed to the strugges and realities boys face. Everyone else just makes assumptions, and usually bad ones.

I don't get it either. I was kicked in the balls once and it really, really hurt. And a girl who saw it happen laughed.

Horrible. I would find it funny if friends throw cakes at each others' faces or place a fake spider, at least there is humor to that since it's harmless and everyone is having a good time.
But someone agonizing in pain isn't funny at all.
