Everytime my brother asks me what I like.

Then I was excited about this phone.

I grew up sleeping n the car with my mom. I worked and helped out put money in her hands.

And I wanted this samsung s23 ultra

I work hard and was excited I finally could buy it.

I was torn because I had the option to pay monthly on it. I usually don't tell him anything but I thought I'd ask for financial advice. On which payment plan he thought was better.

He kept criticizing me telling me how stupid I am for spending 1k on a phone and he doesn't understand why people do that.

I told him how I've been spending 200-400$ on phones for years and they keep giving me issues I really wanted to get something w a faster processor and honestly after working so hard since 14 I really wanted to gift myself something I never get anything im always struggling and wanted to have a fun little toy I deserve it

Anyway he told me not to buy the s23 ultra but the s22 ultra is exactly the same and it's a waste of money to get a next Gen phone.

Well I took his advice it was cheaper its fine. It wasn't what I wanted nor the color I wanted but it's okay he was right I should still be humble. He still criticize me saying it's a waste of money

That’s called being a shitty person (him, not you). Honestly just stop asking him for advice about things that you want, or telling him about them. He’ll try to beat you to it and get it himself, or he’ll try to convince you to get something different and then he will get what you actually wanted for himself. I’ve met a few people like him in the past. On the outside, they seem confident and successful, like someone that you would turn to for life advice. But on the inside, they are petty, sad people, who only want to one-up everyone else so that they can feel some accomplishment in their life.
