What do you do when your family doesn't have faith in you?

Both of my parents think I'm not capable of taking care of myself and my son my dad told me I wouldn't be able to survive on my own or have my own family and my mom said I'm not capable of taking care of me and my son on my own I Know I can but why can't my family support me? I don't know what to do

Prove them wrong, or just ignore them. It’s hurtful for family to not believe in you, and tell you that they don’t think you can survive without them, but realistically their minds will not change unless you prove them wrong?

I did prove them wrong I was staying in a trailer with my baby daddy taking care of my son but they still don't think I'm capable of being on my own

I see in your other responses that you’re currently living with your family. That’ll be a big reason as to why they don’t believe that you can survive on your own. My advice would be to find work, save up money, and find a place for you (and your son, baby daddy or whoever) to live independently.

Well get a job first. then save up money. make a budget and stick to it. try to move up in that job or after a time get a better paying job.

Welp you just got bad luck in having unsupportive parents. i would save up enough to live in your own place if you can. you may need to find roomies to help pay rent. You'll have to build some wealth up

But I have moved out before and I was doing just fine without them yes I was living with my ex but I was paying for my own shit not him and I was supporting my son to

But u have now moved back so whatever u was doing by yourself would be irrelavent because its led u back to them and it wasn't by yourself if it was u and a ex I would imagine in their eyes

Well I could get a roommate and live with them but that's not the point i was taking care of myself and my son even though I had an ex I paid my half of the bills I had a job the only reason why I moved back in is because me and my ex broke up and he kicked me out

I live with my parents until I can save up and move out again I've already been on my own before but they just don't have faith in me

I graduated high school in 2019 but never went to college because I couldn't afford it

And I'm trying to get a job but I need to find a babysitter and I told my parents about it they want me to work nightshift I can't sleep during the day I've already done nightshift before so I won't be able to sleep during the day not to mention I will be up All day taking care of my son

TBH it doesn't sound like you would be able to take care of your son and work a job that will pay the rent.

Don't guilt your Mom into free babysitting like my niece did.

I wouldn't guilt my mom into babysitting I would find someone to babysit that I would pay
