My friend in college was in a really bad car accident where she got two black eyes and a bunch of facial bruising and superficial cuts from the glass. She looked horrible and make-up just didn't cover it after her hospital stay. Her boyfriend (also our friend) said to her, he did not want to be seen publicly with her until she was better again because of what people would think or how they'd react because even if he denied or she denied he ever touched her, which to be clear, he did not, people would assume either he or she was lying.
My friend said she didn't think about that, but after a few outings it was pretty clear this is what people thought and some were even confrontational about it, so she agreed to this (and he did ask me and my other friends to just watch out for her and watch over her when he wasn't there).
Have you ever had this happen. Like you wife broke her arm and people thought you did it, or had some bruises maybe from a sporting accident or just being clumsy and people gave you the evil eye? Were you ever confronted about it either from family, friends, or even perfect strangers? How did you handle it?
My son came into our bedroom one morning. He was about 3 or 4 years old. He was swinging a belt around and hit my wife in the eye with the buckle. My wife was not allowed to leave the house until it went away. I was afraid I would be arrested

My ex boxed. She had black eyes all the time. I'm sure strangers must have thought something from time to time but nobody ever said anything. She had great back and shoulders I think most people figured it out.

Yes, she was drunk, accusing me of being unfaithful with women in California, Arizona, and New York (even though I came home EVERY day after work.) She was trying to grab my cell phone from me, she had her hands on it for a few seconds but lost her grip, fell backwards, and hit her head on a door jamb. She called 911 and reported me for domestic violence.
I was arrested because the local police have a policy for DV calls: if someone is injured, someone must go to jail. I was held overnight and released the next day. The prosecutor initially filed a misdemeanor domestic violence/battery charge against me but it was dropped for lack of evidence. They realized that the ONLY evidence they had against me was the word of a drunk. The arresting officer had lied and said I confessed when the bodycam footage revealed that I had not.
I watched it happen with a supervisor of mine at work. She came to work with a black eye and I swear everybody thought the husband blacked her eye over a football game loss or something.
It was really retarded if you think about it. She told me directly what really happened, but still... in the background... fuckers had their assumptions it was him.
It just shows human's trait of "protect women and children" at all costs over anything else. Guy shows up at work and directly says his wife did it to him... What's the assumption? Yeah, deserved it they say?
Which is laughable if you really think about it. Any sort of violence within a relationship is fucked... doesn't matter if she did it or he did it. The assumptions basic humans have though... sadly, probably won't change anytime soon.I went camping with a boyfriend once and took a broom handle to take the lantern down from a tree. I wasn’t really thinking, it ended up sliding down the broom handle and hit me on my nose and forehead. I had a gash on my nose, two small black eyes and a big lump on my forehead. My boyfriend jokingly said people are going to think he did it but he never kept me hidden.
Personally, no, I've never been in a relationship where my partner got visibly bruised or had a black eye. I kind of do want to date a fighter/boxer girl just to see what it's like, but then again, maybe I don't want people randomly assuming I'm a piece of shit. I already hate violent people and gender norms, so the two thrown together onto me would probably be annoying. It would give my partner a few chances to defend my honor and that would be endearing, but just seems like a hassle in the first place. There's plenty of stories like this on the internet, it just seems it happens to boxing chicks the most when it comes to misunderstandings.
Back when I trained pro mma I was friends with a married couple and the husband would dread how his wife would sometimes after mma fights or even sparing. People would look at him suspiciously especially given he had a “rough neck” look to him but he was one of the nicest most respectful guys in the world.
Anyway if you see a man and woman in public and the woman is visibly bruised up then it’s none of your f*cking business to assume he might be responsible.
Different story if you hear them arguing and her screaming next door (and later see her bruised up) and later see bruises.
Before my friend moved to my city, she lives in Toronto at a place that always has bed bugs and she was allergic to bed bugs so she would get bruises all over her body when they bit her at note. Her neighbours thought her boyfriend was beating her up because of the bruises she always has.
One time (and no I'm not joking) it was our one year anniversary and her parents were out of town for the weekend so I came over and we had nonstop sex for 4 or 5 hours, only taking breaks for water. The next day we went to Panera to have lunch with some friends and she was limping and had marks on her neck from me choking and biting her, and I had scratch marks on my neck and back. My friends thought we were beating each other and actually started a group chat that they set up as an intervention. Obviously after clarifying it was a sex thing it was okay but holy shit It was like something out of a movie. Lmao.
No she's just a natural clutz. Back in 2019(?) She sprained her foot and had to wear a boot and used a cane and her older sister bedazzled her boot. If I remember correctly she tripped over the stump of a tree after posing for a picture in her yellow dress. I told her I should bubble wrap her and put padding down on the ground to keep her from getting injured again since she was accident prone and she got mad at me. But after that I told her in all seriousness to elevate her foot and leg and to ice her foot to keep the swelling down and to take Tylenol to relieve her pain if she gets any. Over 4 1/2 years later and I still remember it
Fuck what people think. They wanna speculate and make false accusations, they're gonna get an earful. American people are so fucking retarded! They need to learn to mind their own fucking business!
The sad part is, no one would react like this if it was the man that had a jacked up face.- u
nope
people would never assume that from me No, never. I'm not violent in general so it would be odd for people to imagine that I had assaulted my partner.
No but my kids get hurt a lot and sometimes their teachers ask them about it.. LOL its like damn I don't beat them they are just dangerous..
I’ve beaten myself up and people thought it was my boyfriend at the time
I had my sister give me black eye, and everyone thought my boyfriend did it lol we were drunk and neither remember whyyy. Lol but I know it's quite what you asked it just made me think about that
Everyone that knew about me and my girlfriend knew that the only thing that could separate us was death itself. (Unfortunately it came rather soon…)
I punched myself in the face 4 days ago and the right side of my face is still green 😒 I’m just not leaving the house or were makeup till it’s gone
My boyfriend has never hit me. He yells at me, grabs my wrist etc. He would never hurt me like that and his family would not ever think he did.
😂😂😂😂😂. Doesn't surprise me.
never
