What would you do if a strangers child was being nasty or hit you when your out in public?

I’ve noticed the past year that children act up more in public, I’m not sure why. But it has been a lot worse this year. A few months ago, I was in a shop and waited for a parent and her child to go to another section before I went to the spot they were at as it was a small store and I didn’t want to be rude. Once they went somewhere, I went to that spot, the mums child comes back and physically tried to push me out of the way.

Today, I was in a queue in a shop and someone’s child kicked me because she was upset she had to wait and she tried to do it again and her parents lifted her from the ground, I didn’t say anything, I just looked at them and the parent apologised to me but I was mortified. I get children have their moments etc, I’ve seen them act like l that towards their parents but I’m just stunned that it’s now becoming allowed to hit and be nasty to strangers minding their business. How would you react?
