What do you think of rollercoasters? Do you like them or do you find them scary? Or does it make you feel nauseous?

I really like them, but my friend doesn't like them. He said that rollercoasters make him sick easily. I was first thinking that some people are scared of rollercoasters, but I found out that is really a thing that some people can't stand them.

Now I'm curious how many people like them or don't like them, and why. If you don't like them, is it because you got nauseous from them or are you just scared?

I would like it if some people can explain what they feel when they ride a rollercoaster or an other ride, because I'm trying to understand why some people experienced it in a different way. I'm just curious.

I've been on rollercoasters in 12 states, and will generally take any opportunity to ride them. The only exception is a wooden coaster at the park closest to me - Great America in Santa Clara. That coaster, The Grizzly, was a large wooden coaster that was poorly designed. When it opened in the late 80s, brand new, the ride was fairly rough, but the next time I rode it, a couple of years later, it was ABUSIVELY rough, and it got worse by the year. Twice it was refurbished, but it never really got better, and it was voted the worst coaster in the US for 17 years in a row. I stopped riding it in the 90s - it just wasn't worth spending the rest of the day bruised and in pain.

The thing is, wooden coasters can be fantastic. There is a wooden coaster in Santa Cruz on the boardwalk that's well over 100 years old, and it is smooth and just a joy to ride. I ride that coaster at least 5 times every time I go there. How the Grizzly got so bad, I'll never know, but it had to be a bad original design.

My favorite coasters are the suspended coasters. They are super-smooth, and the view is fantastic.

This is the suspended coaster at Great America. Back when Paramount owned the park, this coaster was called Top Gun and had DangerZone playing at the station, but Paramount sold it off, and it was renamed to the much more generic Flight Deck, and they now have a generic DangerZone sound-alike music theme, but the ride itself is as great as it ever was.

I get so nauseous on them. I want to enjoy them, I think I’d like them otherwise. But my stomach can’t handle being flip-flopped around, experiencing sharp drops, etc.

My girlfriend likes them, so I tried to humor her and go on them once a year when the fair would come around. Now I deal with the sickness as long as it’s one of the ones that takes a picture of you at the craziest part, just to get great photos like these😂😂😂

I only went on a roller coaster once. It was considered a “kids” ride, because it didn’t have any loops but it was still considered a high speed roller coaster. I hated it! Lol I started crying and had my eyes closed for some of it but felt nauseous with my eyes closed! I didn’t like the speed of it and I’m terrified of heights, so it was a dumb idea to even try it!

I like most that I've been on. A few newer ones are just too damned short! It takes you an hour to wait in line, about 3:00 to get to the top of the first peak and then 30 seconds later, the ride's over!

I'd never ride on one. Heights and spinning aren't my thing. Last I remember being on one was a kiddie rollercoaster and it hurt my backbone, I was glad to get off of that thing.

I like them a lot! That feeling in your stomach at the first drop or when you drive over a hill is just fun. And the g-forces are also really fun. But I can understand why some people don't like them. If it makes you nauseous, it's logical that you don't like it.

i have acrophobia (fear of heights) i can't even use swings, teetertotters or even elavators who sees outside.

Not my thing at all. I mainly hate the idea of not being in control of the ride (speed, ability to stop when I want). 🤬

If you get nauseous, do you know why you don't get nauseous from fighter planes? I'm just curious.

@Pardeijntje. I have no idea. A fighter I could control and consciously maneuver. A roller coaster has you as just a strapped in projectile.
