I have two cats (American shorthair) Popeye and grandpa. I've had them since they were young get they're vastly different. Popeye loves me and my boyfriend he loves affection and attention his brother does not. They live each other but grandpa is not a house cat I believe he wants to leave he often tries to escape. Feral cats will leave no matter how much you try to prevent it, should I let him go? I don't want pops to become depressed, I just truly feel grandpa does not feel free or safe here.

Some cats just are not indoor cats. Just because you can't keep them inside doesn't mean they are feral, or want to run away. They've got a whole world to explore. It's more dangerous outside, but you just can't keep some cats inside.
My personal feeling is, if the cat really wants to go outside, I'll give it freedom. Who am I to put it in jail?
I've seen cats adapt quite well to being outdoors.
No, cats are like children, just because they want to run off, doesn't mean you as the parent should allow it.
They always come back
My sister's cat left and never came back so I dug think so
Don't
How long did the cat live at Your sisters house was the cat familiar with the surroundings and all the property, was it taken on a long ride and got out and escaped because if you drive too far with the cat and gets out, it won’t find its way back.
He was an adult and less than a year
He escaped when my Gma opened the door and never came back
But my cats been with me since 3 months but only one wants to leave
Well, now that I think about it, maybe it was an indoor cat. It wasn’t used to the outside of the surroundings of the property. Our cats are outdoor cats, but they hung around my house. They were our cats when I was younger and they never left. They always came back.
