I wouldn't automatically assume that. Buy if they're not a narcissist and they trying to dispell that notion, that is bad start to it.😆
I'm more inclined to believe someone isn't a narcissist if they go out of thier way to understand the role they played in there relationship.
For example I'll read a lot of pink posts on here where the woman call the guy a narcissist and then declares, "I'm not the problem". And my first thought is, "ok, are you wanting my to make an impartial judgement? Or are you just trying to sell me on he's the bad guy and you're the innocent girl"? Because it feels like the latter. And he MIGHT be the bad guy. But typically in a relationship both parties have blood on there hands. I'll listen to someone vent if it makes them feel a little better. But the point of this site is to help people work through problems. If you've decided he's the bad guy then there is no problem to work through. Dump him and move on with your life. If not, then she has to take responsibility for the role she's played in the relationship. Then we can work through if things are salvageable or not. I'm not JUST here to listen to someone complain. That serves no purpose and is waste of time.

It takes more than that is be a diagnosed narcissist. People throw the term around with knowing what it is.
