Do guys usually go into details when they tell their best friends about their hookups?

Nope, they never even hear about it. What happens between me and her stays between me and her. Most my guy friends don't bring it up either. It's a matter of maturity. None of us have the need to brag or feel like "the man" or something ridiculous like that. However the exception to the rule is if something unusual or odd happened. Something so out of the ordinary it would wrong not to tell the tale. I mean, if it's just a regular hookup, why bother with details? It's not interesting/something we aren't already familiar with, so who cares?

I discuss it. Why not talk about it is more my view. It isn't like it is a huge secret. Two adults that are attracted to each other were alone for a bit, I wonder what they will eventually do? I don't say oh what a whore or anything.

Few guys will share any details if it's a girlfriend. A handful of immature guys will, but that's the exception. Most guys don't want other guys thinking about their girlfriend like that.

A random hookup? Those details are more likely to come out, but even then, it's usually more "bragging" and good stuff, like "she's super hot, and has great t!ts" or "she gives amazing head". It's still rarely going to be a play-by-play or talking in-depth about anatomy.
