What do you do if you're going bald and you cannot pull it off?

When you're going bald you often heard the phrase, "just shave it all". But this is assuming that you can actually pull off a bald look. In my opinion, the majority of men cannot pull it off. To look good bald, you have to have a strong jawline, cheekbones, small ears. If you have a weak chin, big ears and no hair, all the attention will go to your less than favorable physical features. A good example I can think of is Ted Mosby. The only reason he looks attractive is his hair. So when people say shave it off, they're really saying accept being ugly. What are you supposed to do if you're stuck with it and you cannot pull it off and everybody your age expects you to have hair?

Fyi in chinese medicine hair loss is considered slowing of blood flow to the area. There is alternative treatments to try like accupuncture and herbs

The Chinese idea behind balding is actually quite sophisticated, and quite valid. Depending on the pattern. Excess yin (cogitation, yin foods, refined sugars, drugs etc) front of the head, for example. Also correspond to the various organs. Weak kidneys are indicated by balding at either side of the front, traditional balding pattern. Also associated with poor sexual function. Yeah, could go into depth, but won't :)

Thanks, thats super intersting,:) i know i had thinning at 20 in those areas, in doctor terms it was a thyroid issue but i always look into if further. It wouldn't surprise me if it was kidneys because I've always had kidney type issues on and off throughout life, i wrote it off to too much hair bleach lol. Thanks! Love learning new stuff like that:)

I gave a very superficial generalised answer.

There's actually some books you can get describe the patterns and their meanings for you. The body never lies. And the face never lies. By Michio Kushi. Basically, Western diets are considered to be inherently unhealthy. Excessive animal products. Excessive refined grains. Excessive refined sugars. Excessive refined oils. By centring one's diet on *cooked* whole grains, fresh vegetables, and some legumes, it should clear a lot of things up, healthwise. You can then fill the rest of your diet in with some of the other stuff. In moderation. And eating with your constitution (yin yang, and your element type). It's really interesting and helpful stuff, for sure.

If I'd have read that shit 15 years ago, I probably wouldn't have lost half my hair, and I wouldn't have had most of the health issues I had (which have mostly disappeared now).

I actually already do all that combined with seeing only holistic and naturopathic doctors, i dont believe much in what actual doctors have to say. I believe all they are doing is putting a band aid to deeper issues, which normally dominos into more issues.

Id assume your hair would come back after changing all of those things, youve never thought to search deeper, to see if its something else,? I don't know im always into looking further, i never accept a final answer.

If they worked we would know it and every guy with a receding hairline would use them. Alternative medicine is either not proven to work or proven not to work. Treatments that are proven to work are called "medicine".

@SexyAshh, once the hair follicle has died, no more hair can grow there, as I understand it. So you can certainly slow the rates of recession, arguably, with the correct lifestyle and diet. But if someone goes bald, there ain't no hair growing there.

@slatyb what a typically narrow minded answer. Having said that, strictly speaking, it's not that changing your diet does necessarily improve your health. As Kaare Bursell words it, "The fact that macrobiotic principles and practices have become limited to merely addressing diseases is lamentable, for it is not a medicine, and neither does it cure cancer or any other disease. The fact is that macrobiotic principles and practices offer the physical, practical tools with which the human individual can extricate him or herself from the current craven slavishness this culture shows toward modern scientific medicine and its extremely destructive effects upon the human organism. However, macrobiotic principles and practices are fundamentally not interested in what disease symptoms a person has, but *in changing the conditions and circumstances under which those symptoms have developed*. This can only be done by the person who has the symptoms and is the way of creating a healthy, vital physical foundation for developing emotional stability, mental clarity and spiritual awareness." (my emphasis added).

There is no diet to cure disease or sickness. In reality, some really deep psychological/psyche work is need, along with a lifestyle change, a whole outlook change, to create the right conditions under which a healthy body can emerge. Subtle difference there. One that will go over most peoples' heads who just want to grunt out the same old bollocks.
