Then they say I look better in person and insult my photography abilities 😥
Is it a compliment to say you look better in person?

It's not your photography skills persay, it's your choice of equipment. Cell phones lack specialized lenses, and while many great photographs can be created with smart phones, their lenses are designed to be universal use lenses, not the same way a 85mm, 105mm, or 135mm (lenses ussually used in porturature and glamour shooting) lenses perform.
In any camera system the lens is doing most of the work (yes digital imaging has come a long way and internal processing/post processing can be utilized to correct most faults), it comes down to distortion of the subject, separation of the subject from the background, depth of field, contrast, and other qualities that lenses are designed to have. Using the right lens is always the best way to ensure the best results.
So saying you look better in person isn't really a slight against you, or your photography skills.
😂🤣 Photography or visual presentation is a skill that can be developed. Im the opposite I think, though no one has ever told me, I think I can take better pictures of myself than I look person. We should exchange selfies 🤣😂 But definitely take it as a compliment to your looks not a put down to taking pictures. There are many people that I think look better in person and thats just because a pic is a flat two dimensional image with just a snapshot of color at that exact moment.
Yeah, it is! I'm the same way anon: I take atrocious pictures, especially selfies (probably the reason I don't take them!)
Not to mention, I have a hard time smiling in pictures because they seem so forced or phony.
Yet I've been told I look better in person than in my pictures. It's not an insult, it just means you're really good looking and pictures do not do you justice! Trust me, take it as a compliment and be happy.
It’s a compliment! If they were already willing to meet you they must’ve thought you were attractive, and you’re even better in person. Some people just don’t photograph well. I went on a date with a guy who was MUCH more attractive and person and it was exciting for me because usually they look worse in person lol

I constantly get told that I look better in person than my photos.
This is why I don’t know why some people harshly judge pictures.
There are the women that rely on angles, filters and lighting to come out pretty, and then when you meet them they are unattractive.
Then there are those who don’t edit their photos but aren’t photogenic and make you say “wowzers “ in person.
Yes, it's a compliment.
I don't know you, have never seen a pic of you to judge your photography skills, etc., I will say as a generalization that most people aren't that great at it - and it's largely because they're trying to take selfies, which is rarely going to come out great.
Anyway, learn to take a compliment and stop always assuming that a compliment has to have a negative side.
He is being sincere or a jerk depends of the situation, if it was said with respect and to you alone, it was a good advice and a form to say, you are more beautiful than that.
If it was said on a form which lacks your respect... I don't lose my time going with jerks, they can put their shits on a another person, one who considers itself a victim.
Lol honestly some people just truly don’t photograph well. I have an aunt that either blinks seems to be straining in smile etc she doesn’t do it off camera but her pictures look off
My friends always make fun of me and say these same thing, lol.
I'm always awkward in photos.
I'd laugh and wouldn't take it as an insult :)
Is what I would say then "you look better in person!"
Generally yes, unless it's just an incredibly abstract way of criticizing your photography skills (or that of whoever took your pictures).
I think it’s a compliment because have you seen how many photo filters there are that people can use?
It absolutely is a compliment. Photos lie. And although the age of social media and smartphones would have you think differently - no, you are not a professional photographer just because mommy and daddy bought you a phone at 13.
To be fair people with smartphones don't know how to take picture well unless they also have experience with actual cameras as more than just a once in awhile thing to use.
Usually yes, it is a good sign, supposed to be a compliment most of the time.
That's definitely a compliment. Not being photogenic is very common. 🖤
not sure but its sure as hell better than saying you look better on facebook
I would guess so :D
But then I’d ask myself wait are you trynna say my pics suck 😂
Of course. Because do you want to prefer to look better in pictures or in real life? Because i prefer to look better in real life than in pictures.
I like leggings on most people. Lol as i got a pair on now
That was irrelevant 😂
Sorry i though it was a diff? I was lookin at
I think so. A photograph only captures one side of you. And a lot of the times, it’s not very flattering! Phone cameras distort the face, making noses seem bigger and faces fatter.
Yes, it's a compliment.
Yes, I think that's a compliment.
Yeah, generally it's meant as a compliment.
