Is it appropriate for my boyfriend to compliment other women on their physical appearance? And in front of me?

Met my boyfriend at work. We have this colleague that he complimented two months ago, comparing her looks to a famous American actress who happens to be really pretty. It didn't sit well with me the first time, but I let it slide. Well, it happened again today; he reaffirmed what he had said before and told her she *really* did look like that actress (which I don't agree with at all, by the way. I think our colleague's average looking at best and doesn't resemble any actress, but that's my personal opinion).

I confronted him afterwards, telling him that it really hurt me. Am I an asshole for my reaction or not? :) He said he was terribly sorry for offending me and that he'd never compliment a girl on her appearance in front of me again.

I feel it's perfectly okay to compliment others, but when it's a straight guy complimenting a woman on her physical appearance, it's a totally different story. Thoughts?

That just sounds rude and disrespectful toward you and totally messed up. It seems his focus is more toward other girls and not you which is like wtf is his intentions with you? Im sorry i couldnt date someone like that but im sick and tired of people saying us women are crazy and insecure when some guys are doing stupid shit like this to bring us down!
