These shorts on the pics are normal. They aren't too short. Ofc I saw shorts which were really short af and I saw their ass.. But ye.. Everyone can wear what she/he wants. :p
Nowadays most of people don't care if it's too short. They just have to feel comfortable with these clothes..
I wear shorts that length in summer. Sometimes, if I am over the road on the beach. It is just a bikini.

It's hard to find some shorts that are not so short... 😅 So it might kinda be enforced that way and the idea of wanting something else becomes the weird one... Have you heard about the Norwegian Olympic beach volleyball team getting fired for wearing normal shorts instead of biniki bottoms? They were forced to wear bikini bottoms with an upward angle even when they found them embarrassing. Its kinda weird that everyone seems to have an opinion on what women should wear to such a degree is not it? 😅
If a woman wants to wear it though that's also her right to ☺️
yeah, some look okay when standing/walking, but sitting down most legs look awful in normal shorts for women, even me who has relatively skinny legs and slight thigh gab so. Is possible to get longer though, thank god.
PS. your first remark on how you thought as a kid remind me of once I was wearing typical short women shorts to a bbq party in my start 20s, and there was this little girl who asked why I did not wear any pants xD her mother had to explain that I was wearing shorts, and that is was ok and not that uncommon for them to be so short.
Its all down to style choice. literally with a 5 minute search I found a dozen different shorts from capri length right up to hooker length. so it is not hard to find a length that suits you or you like. the shorts you posted I think are fine right about where I wear them.
the ones on the right i would probably myself feel they are too short but the ones on the left are perfectly fine, nothing short about them! There's tonnes of different styles about on the internet girls just wear what they like and feel comfortable in, which is perfectly acceptable:)

Amazing thing for putting stuff in, not just keys, there is marked up, sanitary products, mace, etc all this means pockets are not really needed…

No they're not too short, they just didn't hike them up that high (often to hide their Wendy's nuggets and Truly's guts) back in the day. Big girls respected themselves and others enough to know not to try and wear clothes not meant for them. Nowadays they try and shovel all of that "love" into "high waist" jeans and shorts. I'm actually impressed by how much they can fool themselves into believing their waist is also their rib cage instead of just... y'know doing some sit ups and popping a diuretic every now and then. A man loses 5lbs "where?" A woman loses 5lbs, suddenly she can fit into her high school uniform again.
Women's shorts should be shorter
Shorts should be appropriate length for the conditions in which they are being worn. They should always provide adequate coverage. Would be nice to have adequate sized pockets.
Guys shorts have become way too long and baggy to be attractive and comfortable.

No I don't think they're too short. They're a normal length for short shorts. However, I think those shorts where you can see a woman's butt are too short.
Just supply and demand.. women don't care about cloth quality and pockets and practicality when buying clothing compared to it looking actually good.. and that's why there's a supply for it.. whereas men, care about all those things and less about how it looks and thus.. there is less demand of those..

Good women's shorts are like a good essay. Short enough to be interesting, but long enough to cover the subject.
I'm so glad that longer shorts are coming back into fashion, I'm so over the short shorts. But yes the materials and lack there of (pockets) are a major issue. As well as inconsistent sizing

No they need to be shorter! I love that women regularly wear shorts out in public shorter than my boxers! Plus women will tell you that tight shorts/pants that are soo tight that they look to be painted on are very very comfortable so let them be and stop trying to shame them!
They're too short if the goal is to cover anything, but women's clothes aren't designed with utility in mind.

My sister wears shorts as you showed in above images and not just those she also uses wears even shorter ones and according to her she never found them discomforting
What do you mean man. Women do that because it's hot out and they're trying to keep cool, because that is the latest fashion, or because they just think it looks cute. Not because they're trying to get attention 🙄.

Above the knee a little bit is okay but shorts like these ones in the photo are too short, a girl can wear them but inside her house and not in public
