What is ACTUALLY considered "men's short shorts"?

Might sound like a stupid question, but I'm genuinely sort of confused. Some people when they say "men's short shorts" mean like shorts that are as short as women's shorts with like a 3 inch inseam that stops slightly below the ass; while others mean anything that's even remotely above the knee, with like a 9 inch inseam that stops just slightly above the knee.

Today, anything that shows more than ankle!! Back in the `80's, they were shorts that JUST covered your crotch.

I would say the short inseam, like the woman’s. These are more comfortable in hot weather.

I consider it anything shorter than 3/4 the length of his quads.

I'm pretty tall so it feels like any shorts I wear are too short.
