It always seemed quite weird to me, but quite a lot of my female friends and acquaintances absolutely FREAK OUT when it comes to their bra outlines or bra straps showing, even when it's just BARELY noticeable.

Like the above picture... to me at least it's barely noticeably, and if I encountered that woman in real life I wouldn't even notice her bra outline or bra strap unless I was specifically looking for it. Yet many women whose bras are showing just as much as the woman in the photo or even LESS than her still freak out about it.

Maybe it has something to do with "perfectionism" or "professionalism" or "formality" or whatever, but EVEN when just wearing a casual tank top or whatever, even if just to the gym or to the beach or whatever, they'd STILL complain about it.

Maybe I'm the weird one, but I literally couldn't care less about this "issue"...

It’s going to be difficult to align things perfectly anyway and things can slip out of place.


It would be like judging someone for their shoelaces not being tied with perfectly matching measurements for both their shoes.


If something is off by a centimeter, it’s not a big deal.


Though, it might be a good idea to pick a bra that’s well color-coordinated with the rest of their outfit just in case the strap is shown.


That way, even if their strap is seen, it’ll look intentional if everything goes together nicely.

It's not worth worrying over something so trivial, and like you said, things can easily slip out of place even if they weren't slipped out of place when you checked in the mirror.

Yeah... the shoelace comparison really drives home how much of a non-issue it is, haha.

But yeah... it is a good idea to pick a bra color that goes well with the rest of the outfit. It certainly doesn't hurt.

And yeah, haha... the black bra strap with the burgundy tank top certainly DOES look really good on her! I certainly think it ADDS to her outfit if anything, rather than subtracting. I feel like without the black bra strap her outfit would've looked a bit too plain. And the bra outline showing through her tank top keeps her outfit from looking unnaturally smooth, which to me personally would look pretty boring. The bra outline adds some good texture/detail I think.

It's really quite a simple thing, and if I were talking to her in real life I probably wouldn't even notice it... but then when the moment would come when I WOULD notice it, I would definitely think "wow cute" instead of "wow tacky." I might even compliment her on it directly if we were to ever become close friends, too. It would probably be weird/creepy to compliment a stranger or acquaintance on such an oddly specific rather personal thing, though. 😅

Yes haha. With close friends it's different because close friends can pretty much say (almost) anything to each other (within reason). Stuff that would be offensive if it came from a stranger or an acquaintance could become funny if said by a close friend, since you know they mean no harm. And with close friends you have a better notion of boundaries and stuff anyway.

But yeah... "Really nice outfit by the way. I love your color choices! They look great on you," is pretty much perfect for ANY situation, and can't really go wrong.

Like if a man thought a woman's cleavage looked nice in her dress, obviously saying "nice cleavage" would be WAAAAY out of line. But just simply saying, "Nice dress! You look great!" is pretty much uncontroversial.

Literally never even knew this was a thing. If anything I like seeing bra strap outlines through a shirt. Ok actually if it's a really formal and elegant dress then visible bra straps can degrade the look slightly, but generally I wouldn't say it's an issue at all!

Haha, I agree 100%, pretty much. For a formal and elegant occasion it can look out of place... the same way shorts would look out of place in a formal or elegant occasion. But that doesn't mean shorts are bad. And same for the bra strap outlines.

A bra not showing certainly creates a "smoother" look, though smooth is not always my preference. Sometimes I like something that looks more casual, rugged, or low effort. I think every type of outfit has its place, haha. Depends on the occasion/context I guess.

Well it depends on how big your breasts are. If you have smaller breasts it's less difficult to find some fat guy or some muscular guy with bigger "breasts" than you, but the bigger your breasts are the more difficult it becomes, obviously. Yeah, nothing's impossible.

And yeah... it really is stupid, huh? When it's not bra straps, people have problems with the nipples showing... when it's not the nipples showing, they have problems with cleavage showing... when it's not cleavage, then suddenly bra straps are an issue again... there really is no way you can win.

Like even with the school dress codes. Bra straps showing... breaks dress code because it's "distracting." Then when you go braless, breaks dress code because it's also "distracting." I had fun with the school dress code in my senior year. That was the year I decided to start going braless half the time.
