What does "loaded question" mean?

There has been this boy with whom I've been talking on and off with for 2.5 years now. He knows I like him but I'm just not sure about him. I've pretty much accepted that since nothing has happened yet, it's not going to in the future. However the other night I got drunk and we were talking about hanging out and flirting too. So in my drunken stupidity I asked him "oh so do you like me" and he responded saying that's a loaded question. I'm so confused as to hear that mean so sny insight would be appreciated!

A loaded question is a question that is based on an assumption that may or may not be true. For example, "Have you stopped beating your wife?" is a loaded question because it is based on the assumption that this person has been beating their wife, which could very well be false.

If you are wondering what that has to do with your question to your drunk friend, then good, it shows that you understood, because your question to him was not a loaded question. Your friend was drunk and didn't know what he was talking about.

I agree- but to argue the point... (For whatever reason, maybe because I am bored.) It COULD be perceived as a loaded question. 'Like' is a general term, so "Do you like me?" could be read multiple ways. Him answering with a 'no' can be read as 'I don't like you.' easily as 'No, I don't like you romantically.' Answering 'Yes.' can be taken wrong in the same way.

It isn't really loaded in the sense that you pointed out, and in a regular conversation it probably would be fairly obvious what the other party meant. But, with all that pointlessly said- yeah, he was drunk and probably didn't have any idea what he was saying.

LOL, he's being sarcastic and probably laughing at your drunken state. He was prolly a little tipsy also. He's just saying why would ask that question? As in he's telling you "Of course i like you!" But you'll have to ask him where he wants this to go. 2.5 years and y'all are friends, who knows. I'm just getting into this friends first before serious relationships myself. So maybe he needs some direction? Or so do you? :D If it's a great friendship I wouldn't be scared to ask :D
