Should I make the first move and DM him?

I'm a sophomore in high school and there's this really cute guy in my PE and English class. So recently i've been staring at him a lot and i'm pretty sure he's seen by looking since he looks at me occasionally too. Also whenever he sees me from across the hall or quad he takes out his phone and looks down at it, plus i heard he was the shy type at first. Then today when we were in the same place by friend told me that he kept looking at me, like a lot. I'm not sure if he's interested or something but i really want to get to know him. Is it weird to DM him on instagram? (only social media we are connected to) If so is there anything to say to not look too weird?

yeah don't be afraid to take initiative. you should really talk to him in person butt if you're not as confident then just go ahead hand DM him. by taking the initiative you can get the answers that you want a lot quicker than just waiting

You have two classes together. Ask him about a homework assignment or something along those lines. Social media is so impersonal. Sooner or later, the human race is going to forget how to interact with each other face-to-face.
