Whenever I walk past my crush him and his friends talk loud laugh and joke around. Why? It's dead quiet and then when I walk past they get loud?

Walking down this particular road everyday it' dead quiet until I walk past the entrance of the mechanics they seem loud and joke around or sing. Is this coincidence? Why do guys do this?
