Why is he avoiding answering my question?

the guy I like knows I like him. I got the feeling he may have liked me too so I asked him straight out and he didn't give a straight answer but instead said how he was happy being single for now since his ex girlfriend caused him a lot of stress and unhappiness. this was over a month ago that I asked him this.

at the time I thought this was fair enough but he is still giving some signs that he may be interested so iv asked him again last night if he is interested at all. and I said that I may be mistaking his friendliness for more. he dodged giving a straight answer again and said he'd get back to me...its been 24hrs now. iv heard from him but he says his busy at the moment even tho he text me first.

so my question is how come he isn't giving a straight answer? ihe hasn't said no and iv given him the opportunity to. so I'm guessing he likes keeping it a secret or just really doesn't want to hurt my feelings. please help. does he like me or not?

He might be unsure if he wants to get involved with someone else or not. He could still be hung up on his ex too. It's hard to take a guess though, since you say that he seems interested but doesn't make a move. Just keep hanging out with him and see if he gets closer to you.
