What does it mean if a girl keeps the text conversation going (and replies fast), but never texts first?

-I started texting my crush on Monday. Most of the time, she started typing her responses as soon as she saw them (which in this case was almost always... within 1 minute). Her responses are not kinda big (they aren't novels, but they aren't 1 or 2 words responses). Also, there were times when I responded like... 15-20 minutes later, and she was still replying to me in like 1 or 2 minutes.

-She barely uses emojis, but she uses lots of exclamation points

-Yesterday, I texted her for the 2nd time. We were talking about a movie we both liked. I asked her what her favorite scene is. She told me which one it was. I didn't know what to reply, because she didn't ask me the same question back. So I tried to figure out a way to switch to another topic, but I wasn't able to. 15 minutes later, I still hadn't responded to her message (I was still thinking about what I should reply), and she asked me "What is your favorite scene?". Considering that I hadn't responded yet (even though it showed that I saw her message), I think it might be a good sign that she went back to me and asked me that. I think it might be a sign that she was actually interested in having a conversation with me, or else she wouldn't have attempted this.

-She often says things like "I agree with you", etc.

-She ends the conversation by saying that she's feeling sleepy, and that she's going to bed. She did that both times I talked to her, but everytime she said that, it seems like she actually wasn't lying because she didn't go online after that (well, she stayed for like 3 or 4 more minutes, but then after that she officially left for the rest of the night).

-On the first time, when we ended the conversation, I told her that I enjoyed talking to her (she responded by saying that she also did). Last time, when the conversation ended, she was the first one to say it.

Sometimes, when I'm typing a message (which often takes me a few minutes), she opens the conversation, and then leaves after a few seconds (there's an icon that shows if the contact is looking at the conversation). And like, she doesn't even need to click on it to know if I'm typing or not (we're using facebook/messenger, so she could know if I'm typing just by looking at the list of all of her text conversations). I think this might be a sign that she likes me and wants to keep talking with me.

When I say that she uses a lot exclamation points, I meant that most of her sentences ends with a "!". I was not saying that she is ending her sentences with like "!!!".

It means that she's interested. Don't over-think it when it comes to who texts who first, that's not really a problem. If she's responding quickly with more than one or two word answers, she's probably interested.

Don't get too stuck on texting her for too long however, if she's your crush you're looking for her to be your girlfriend, not your pen pal. Don't leave it too long to ask her out. How often do you hang out in person? Do you go to the same school?

We never hang out... Well, I never asked her if she wanted to (and she never asked me). But yeah, we go to the same college! We weren't talking much though (because it was hard for me to initiate a conversation with her and also because we're both shy individuals). So yeah, we were rarely talking to each other.

The thing is, the semester is now over for us. So we can no longer see each other on a regular basis. Our only way of communication (for now) is through social medias.

No problem. Well then I'd suggest you just ask the girl out on a date. Even if you're shy, as the guy you kind of have to just nut up and ask her out rather than let that get in the way. Leave it too long and she'll probably only see you as a friend, especially if another guy asks her out first.

her before asking her out (like, I'd probably do it in the middle of next week or in 2 weeks). Do you think this would be fine?

It's hard to say without knowing how the conversations are going, but how long have you been speaking for already? Maybe just let her know that you're interested in meeting her to give her a chance to think about it, throw out the bait and see how she responds. For me for example, I did online dating for a while. I'd maybe speak to the girl for a few days - a week before asking her on a date, no longer than that.

Well I started texting her on a "regular basis" this Monday (I had already texted her 2 months ago, but I stopped).

But I don't know how to tell her that I'm interested in meeting her. I mean, we rarely talked to each other at school, so I don't know how to say it without sounding awkward or desperate.

But yeah, I was thinking about waiting a week. I'm not talking to her everyday, though (I heard that's it's better if I text my crush every 2 or 3 days).

Does she know that you like her or is all of this just platonic conversation? The first step is letting her know that you like her. Again, don't over think this because this is what's fucking you up here. Often in these cases you just have to say "fuck it" and just go for it. Just tell her you think she's cute and that you think you two should go on a date some time. Be genuine. Say it in a very matter-of-fact way, more of a statement than a question, and see how she responds.

I never told her, but I'm probably sure that she figured it out one way or the other. I mean, the way I was acting around her at school made it obvious (I was always more shy/awkward around her than other people, etc). I just feel like she knows it already.
