What usually happens is you like guy/girl A, guy/girl A doesn't like you for whatever reason e. g. already in a relationship or not interested. You soon meet guy/girl B, guy/girl B likes you and makes moves on you. You think to yourself and also your freinds tell you, why stay with the hope of getting guy/girl A when he/she doesn't even like me. So you give guy/girl B a chance; you date, fall for them then move on and forget about guy/girl A.
That's pretty standard. But yeah you usually don't forget about the person you really like until you meet someone else, and they replace those lost feelings.

Oh yeah I squelch them always. As soon as I start feeling some attraction to some woman because my sick male human nature begins to idealize her, I think of her banging a tatted bad boy, screaming and abusing her old man and calling the cops on him, as center of a gang bang, in a feminist march, or in a photo giving me the finger with a male tears cup. That usually makes my dk shrivel up.
You cannot force anything when it comes to feelings. Time is the only real factor when it comes to stop loving someone. When it comes to crush feelings, those will diminish when you find someone else to crush on. So when you say feelings, it depends on what those feelings are and what the relationship/experience with that person is.
