How do I help a shy guy feel more comfortable around me?

I’m pretty sure this guy likes me even though he’s shy. He’s actually outgoing around others but seems to not be around me. But every time he talks to me he says stuff which doesn’t make sense. I like him, but I don’t know how to talk to him because of that. The other night, my friend and I were chatting right next to him, and he tried to join the conversation and said something to both of us, he was like “I don’t like feet.” And then he stumbled on his words and walked away. I was so confused 😂 anyway how do I help him come out of his shell more around me? And why is he so shy?

Of course he likes you, thats why his brain stops working when you are around.

What do you think he meant though? Is it peoples feet? The thought of lots of weird webbed birds feet on his skin? Or perhaps he has particularly strong feelings about the metric system?

Yeah I'm assuming he definitely is out of his element when it comes to talking to girls, I'd say just keep talking with him and do what you can to be an attentive listener and ask questions. Usually with a shy guy if you listen to them talk uninterrupted about something they like, they'll usually like spending time with you. Coming out of a shell requires trust.

I can't be certain, but tbh, if he's more shy and reserved around you than other girls, he probably likes you quite a bit

Attempt to talk to him as much as possible, the more he talks to you the more comfortable he will give with you.
