Advice on talking to a girl?😅?

I went to a smoke shop local to me today, and this really cute girl worked there. She was a bit soft spoken iT seemed, but she was super cute for sure. I didn’t say anything except have a nice day. I decided to come by later (45 minutes give or take) and see if I could gather the courage to say something. I dinner, but we had a little bit of small talk and laughed about me coming back, I said have a nice day and walked out… but I wasn’t satisfied, so after like 2 minutes I walked in and told her I also forgot to get her name and number. Kind of cheesy, but it’s all I could get out. Kind smiled, kind of laughed a little I think, and maybe even blushed a bit. But she shook her head and said “sorry no, that doesn’t work while I’m at work.” I said “I totally understand,” and “you can’t blame me for trying” and started to walk out. As I was walking out , she told me her name, and asked for mine. I smiled and said to have a great evening. And I walked out. I definitely could have been smoother, but I’m really awkward around women so it took a lot just to do that. Any advice? Flirting with a girl at work is already controversial and it’s something I’ve never been sure about, I don’t want to make someone uncomfortable while their at work.

It's usually a bad idea to hit on a woman at work, if you're going to do so, you want to be casual and do so quickly while already leaving.

That said it's worked for me a few times. I think you blew it by going in more than once.
