So I have a crush on this guy at church. We’ve known each other for years in the way that we see each other at church and we’re both very involved in church stuff and he talks to my brother every now and again. So he walked home with us once bc none of his peeps were there and our previous youth leader approached us and said we make a cute couple and asked if we were together. To which I replied no but at the same time he said yes. Then he said “ Yes yes we’re dating. Yes we’re dating.” and he said it with such confidence and pride.
But now I have a crush on him. My brother says that from the other guys perspectives I’m one of the prettiest girls in our youth but none of them really talk to me. I’m actually really quiet and nobody really talks to me a lot. My mom said that he said we were dating bc he thought that was the closest he’ll ever come to being my boyfriend. He used to come over to greet me all the time last year and smile with me a lot. He did that sometimes this year too but it stopped after that day. He hasn’t spoken to me directly since that day tho he never really talks to me directly he usually just comes up to my brother and we all talk. But his friend found out that I have a crush on him. Then he asked “ Really?” then he laughed and said that my crush HAS to know. So I made him promise not to tell and he said he wouldn’t. I haven’t seen them in church at the same time since and he’s the type of guy that would not tell my crush just so he has license to torture me and tease me.
I don’t know if I should tell my crush or get his number and message him. But my brother says I shouldn’t do anything bc” guys don’t like when girls hand themselves over on a silver platter.”
So now I don’t know what to do bc I really like this boy but even saying hi to him would be so out of character that his friends would think I’m making fun of him or messing with him. How do I get him when he doesn’t think I’d be interested in him.
