Why would a guy flirt with his friends crush?

Guy A picked up on the fact that guy B likes me. A has no interest in me since he avoids me most of the time and seems visibly disinterested in talking to me when we are alone. However in presence of B he tries to get all my attention and flirts with me. Why does A do this? He is married by the way

I had a "friend" like this in highschool. I'd like someone, and then he'd start persuing and dating them. One of the girls he kept doing this with, didn't believe me. So I told her I was gonna tell him I liked her. She came to me later and told me I was right. She stopped dating him after that.


I have NO idea, but its some kind of mental illness.

I don't like B back though, I just think he is nice. And yeah, A is not shy and is basically best friends with every woman in the office except me
