What’s the best way to approach a guy I see almost daily at the train?

we used to work at the same mall, different stores. we exchanged glances here and there and one time i was out with my coworker and so was he and he said something to her that made them both stare at me as i was walking by them.
now i’ve seen them more often at the train although we don’t leave at the same station anymore. today, he came and sat right next to me. we didn’t say anything to each other but there were two more seats in front of me he decided to take the seat right next to me. i don’t know if he thinks im cute so i don’t know how to approach him since im bad at reading signs lol what would be the best way to do it? i don’t know anything about this guy, not even his name. and i’ve never been the first to approach

Hmm that's kinda tricky since you don't know him that well yet. Since he sat right next to you today when there were other open seats, that's probably a good sign he's interested! I'd say next time you see him, maybe smile and say hi as you're sitting down. See if he smiles back and seems friendly. Then you could try making small talk, like commenting on the weather or how crowded the train is or something. Just to get a conversation started. If that goes well, you could then ask him some casual questions to find out more about him - where he's heading, what he likes to do, what music he listens to, etc. Keep it lighthearted though, don't bombard him right away. Hopefully he'll ask you questions too. Then maybe by the end of the ride you'll have built up enough comfort to get his name and ask if he wants to exchange Snapchat or Instagram or something to chat more. But go slow, read his signals, and don't stress - just see where talking a little each day leads!
